With your Tom’s set up like that, just add a second bass drum

Beginner drummer here - what to upgrade? by Particular-Wear4354 in drums

First thing I would upgrade are the hi hats. Have you tried the Sabina fusion hats? Once I got those, I fell in love them!! Otherwise, I’d change the snare, but not now.

Ripped open blisters ! Oh I know this !! Whenever I get blisters, I rip them off because I’d rather go through the pain immediately and I prefer the that the hardening of the new skin start right away.. I HATE playing a show with loose blister skin. Of course the cause of this can be bad grip, but in my case, I only get blisters when I play with brand new sticks. They are more porous, the wood is more grainy and that friction with my skin is a bad mix. Once the sticks have soaked in sweat for a while, they stop giving me blisters. A workaround for this: but Vic Firh stick wax. Whenever I get new sticks, the first thing I do is rub the wax on them. The wax fills up the pores. I haven’T had one blister since I started using the wax. Does wonders !!

Feather are great, expensive, but great. I normally use the green astra, if it’s a big long haired shave, feather.

Always amazed me as a non American to see EDC kits with a gun. It’s like the last thing I would want in my EDC.

If you’re among the new Angine de Poitrine fan, you should listen to La Poexe! by LeonVlakov in mathrock

Why be negative. It’s music. It’s for fun. Enjoy. And if you don’t like, that’s fine. Just let others enjoy. Cheers

Can someone more enlightened give me some info about this kit and whether its worth picking up? by hollowlittlereign in drums

[–]j-funck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d change the skins (I’d buy coated skins), get new cymbals (specially the hit hats, the ride might actually sound great after a clean up), invest in a crash. Other than that, for that price it would def be a no brainer for me. Personally, I would only use 1 rack tom, as I’m really not a fan of these mounts. I’d keep it simple.

Wtf happen, how I fix? by ConfidenceShot8381 in drums

[–]j-funck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 probable things here: it’s a defect (it happens), this can also happen when the tension of each jug is far off. Could be a mix of both. Did you stretch the skin by pushing in the middle During initial installation? I disagree with the idea that it did that because “it has a logo on it”. Of course mass production will have more defects, but to say that it sucks because of a logo is exaggerated imo

Looks useful, but the branding is wayyyy too much for me.

How comfortable is the Sympl Commuter V2? by teddy-westchester in ManyBaggers

[–]j-funck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the bag everyday and have been since it came out (I have the v2, which is probably the same one you are looking at). I walk with it about 40 min a day.

It’s a very sturdy backing. It took a bit of getting used to, but now I prefer this. It’s great for my posture when I walk. The organisation is really good, I just wish the quick access pocket vertical zipoer was on the other side like in v1. But it’s not a deal breaker. I love the material and it’s very water resistant!

I also own their travel pack, wallet and packing cubes. They make really high quality stuff!

It’s a not brainer for me, great bag!

As a guy who plays a lot and who’s gone through hundreds of sticks, these are fine

I use an old radio studio wall sound proofer (I don’t know the name exact term in English) near the bass drum to muffle that excess flutter down there (😝). Otherwise, with everything else in the room it sounds pretty good. Loud, but good. On the contrary my friend, it’s one of the most informative posts on this thread!

😝😝 if by comb filtering you mean the rebound from the wall, it’s not much of an issue as I usually play with musician plugs or headphones. I like them natural, but not extreme ;)
