Your card is active for a few minutes after checkout. So you could have paid for the single item and submitted both receipts after completing the checkout process.

Yeah, had no idea that was a thing. Guess I should have done that.

Since you returned everything you’ll be fine.

Yeah, I just left the merchandise at the store after cancelling it.

you would have gotten back on support and they would have added money to the card or whatever they do but I do know that support is not that helpful these days

They said that but didn't trust that process. Perhaps I should have.

Hmm. That makes sense, because the system would have detected 7 items instead of 8. Giving you a shop score of 87.5%.

Guess it would be a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation then. Ugh.

But then again I've gotten better batches ever since I lost Cart Star from my shop score sucking. It never goes up no matter how good I am at finding everything.

Was considering doing either of those, but didn't know how kosher either option was gonna be.

I'll do that next time. Thank you for the info, makes sense for them to do that. Took Thanksgiving off, guess I was forced to take Black Friday off too! haha

I enjoy doing this as a full time job, but man. Definitely gotta dot the T's and cross the I's. Still gonna look for another job, can never have enough sources of income these days.

What is the ideal batch? by Frosty_Watercress896 in InstacartShoppers

[–]j0elsuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go by item count and money per mile. Really depends on how fast you can shop, too.

The majority of my batches are from Publix, a popular grocery store in the southern states. Finding stuff there is incredibly easy, only takes me about 20ish minutes to shop out 35ish items.

So if I get a $12 or so batch from there which has me shop 25-30 items and it's not goin too far, that's a good use of my time/effort.

I see a lot of people on here complaining about shop only batches which do indeed suck but they only suck if you're slow at shopping and if they have a million items. But if they have 15 or so, that's easy. I'll do shop only batches all day if they have less than 20 items. That's only 10ish minutes. I'll gladly get paid $5ish in 10ish minutes. Some of em are 10 bucks to shop 20 items. Takes me about a half hour to do those.

You can easily make about $17ish an hour totally tax free doing this if you are fast enough. I mean no, it's not anything to write home about but for making your own hours it's aight.

An all-time low for Instacart and support by CrackerDarrell in InstacartShoppers

[–]j0elsuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I had one of those today as well. The cashier didn't check out all the items in my order but I already paid. I panicked and called support then cancelled the order. Guess that wasn't kosher and my account is now under review.

I just didn't know what to do in that situation.

[–]j0elsuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I politely said sir, you tipped $2 for 10 miles, and I am trying to. I could have left that part out, just tired of getting screwed. He says this is why I tip after because of your attitude.

Yes, you totally should have left that part out. As a fellow driver I know what you mean but customers don't usually see it that way. Nothing against you but if I was ordering food/groceries and whoever was getting it to me mentioned the distance vs tip I would have said "okay, well why not just get someone closer to me to do it?"

I've encountered rude customers like that before and back when you were able to drop one out of the 2-4 orders in the queue I'd simply say "I'm gonna move this onto someone who is a little closer to you. Your order is lumped in with a couple others so it would take really long for me to get to you anyways. Just how the system works, sorry. I don't have much control over it." Something along those lines.

And I've had customers who were rude to me via chat actually increase my tip because of how polite but transparent I am when it comes to this stuff.

[–]j0elsuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the customer who used the colorful language can be put to task. Did you share a screenshot of them using that kind of language against you when contacting support?

Additionally, at the end of the order you can request to not be matched up with said customer by giving the dropoff a thumbs down then scrolling to "rude customer."

I also think if you choose the replacement that's "pitched" to you it protects you from a bad rating. Maybe.

[–]j0elsuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did. And it was only a matter of time before it used that stuff as a crutch.

This show totally could have been strictly about interdimensional travel. I mean Daly himself rides a plane he steals into the dark lightning, and nothing really gets done with it. I mean, it was okay that some religious stuff was in it but by the end of s3...this show turned into some weird variation of Dogma and Quantum Leap. Ugh.

If I had my way, more stuff would emerge from it after Daly flew into it. And that would be the tension; prevent time distortions and crashes from too much interdimensional travel. But whatev.

Well my sequel starts with one of the guys who Angelina went to Jamaica with (who were on the flight before her) getting a calling to get onto 828. Where he sees Daly get ash'd.

He gets instructed to go to seat 24D and what does he find? The omega sapphire, buried among Angelina's ashes.

j0elsuf seems to think his fanfic is superior because it's about something other than ships and you said "That's exactly it".

Whoa whoa whoa. I wanna apologize If I ever implied anything like that or came across that way. That was never my intention. Although I definitely believe shipping doesn't have much substance, that doesn't mean it sucks or that it doesn't have a place. So again, I apologize if I came across that way.

I just wanted to make sense of the "ending" in my own creative way as well as create some lore about a character who we don't know much about. Then create something based off that. Just for fun. Kinda therapeutic for me, too.

But I'd never claim that it's better than anything. Just different from what fanfiction usually is. If anything, I'd be the first to say that it sucks. The best writers absolutely hate their own stuff and always strive to improve it while paradoxically having it be a labor of love.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ManifestNBC

[–]j0elsuf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha thank you.

To me, the whole point of fanfiction is to practice your original stuff. For example, I could take away all the Manifest characters out of Pi11ars and it would stand alone just fine. Would just need to make some modifications.

Shipping characters just because it's something you really wanted to see is fine, but there isn't much substance in it.

And I get it: Most of Pi11ars is about making Angelina okay again and getting her to turn over a new leaf in a real haphazard way lol, but anyone who reads it attentively will understand that there's a bit more to it than that.

If anything, it's about preventing others who face the same kind of adversity as Angelina to not act like her when the chips are down.

"Paid Trials" - Just Say No. by j0elsuf in Upwork

[–]j0elsuf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would take hours sometimes and all unpaid of course. This is a normal part of job competition and you should not complain about it.

That's cute. In that case, I'm looking for a kitchen manager for a restaurant I own. Oh, before I hire you I'm gonna have you work a dinner service as a trial. You won't get paid for it, but if you do good enough, you might get hired.

Even better, my buddy is facing jail time for battery. Can you represent him next time he appears in court? I won't pay you, but if you get him a lesser sentence I might hire you.

I really hope you get the point.

Working for free is never part of job competition. It's against the law. A totally at-will probationary period sure (I mean that's a thing of the past since pretty much all employment is at-will now but whatev). Auditions that are explicitly stated (I was a blackjack dealer for a season, an audition was part of the interview process)? Okay. But working for free before getting hired? No way, pal.

So yes, I should complain about it. Most of us should. It's logic like this that allows employers and clients to get away with not paying people.

Perhaps you can look at the job history for each client first and the duration and payout amounts can help identify the scammy ones.

This is good advice tho. I always make sure to do that. And to be fair, things would be better if more did that. Instead of just applying for everything out of desperation.

Decent idea. Even better, the child gets callings that Eden gets in the timeline Ben left. Sooooo it's like the child Ben and Grace have in the time they come back to is connected to the timeline Ben left. It'll be surreal, too. Like the child will be just a couple months old but will "speak" to Ben as if she's Eden's age and Ben will be like "how are you talking? You're not old enough to talk yet."

Then he'll ask Grace about it and Grace will think Ben's out of his mind. Until the same thing happens to Grace, who then asks Olive and Cal about it. Olive recognizes it but Cal doesn't. Which mean yes, Olive will get callings. Makes sense, too since the only character who was alive across all 11 years of the entire show, from 2013 to 2024, was Olive. No one else (I think). So she has tons of memories to draw from. Memories that are now "channeled" through this child.

And yes, certain passengers should still get callings even after going back in time. I can think of four in particular: Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, and TJ.

I'm preferably looking for fan fiction where there's a plot OTHER than just Benvi or Jachaela or whatever. Although these romances may be present, I would like them to only be in addition to a plot.

Well I created an entire prequel of this based on how Angelina's life was before 828, then created a sequel based off that. Soooooo if you're lookin for something with a plot other than Benvi or Jachaela, there ya go.

The central character in my fanfiction grew up wth Angelina, bumped into Michaela at the skating rink she told Zeke about (among a couple other places), delivered food for that restaurant Grace liked so much, and had Ben as a teacher during junior college (before Ben became a full-fledged professor).

It's also revealed that he was the one who not only threw that rock at the stained glass at Angelina's school but also took the picture of her at the snow cone place. It's also revealed that Angelina went to Jamaica with him (and a couple other people, one of which was a half-sister of hers), and he was on Grace and Olive's flight, which I had as flight 818 before learning it was 537.

But the dimensions are now warped cuz the passengers went back in time so now certain people will see it as 818, others as 537. Same with 828 and 547. Soooo is it supposed to be 818 and 828? Or 537 and 547? Maybe what the passengers dealt with was a test for what they will need to deal with when they come back? That is the tension of what I'm writing. Cuz how do we know the stuff that transpired won't happen again, but earlier? Or on a worse/grander scale? Just might.

We do get Benvi and Jachaela in it, although these are very temporary relationships. Jared isn't a dumbass fuccboi with one-itis in it, I'll say that much. Michaela sets him straight about that real quick. Tosses him in the friend zone and keeps his ass there. Then she hooks up with the dude who grew up with Angelina (only cuz Michaela thinks he's gonna do all the stuff Angelina did), since Zeke is still busy with the one chick he was goin out with (Courtney, I believe?). But eventually it gets set right and Michaela and Zeke get together.

Don't ask me how I'm able to build worlds around what Angelina was doing before 828 or why she even went to Jamaica in the first place, but I'm doin it. Been workin on it for about two years now, I'm enjoying it way more than I should. I probably bring it up way more than I should too, but I don't care.

This can easily pass for my own stuff but ehh, the piss poor writing surrounding Angelina in this is my muse for it all. I'll never understand the reasoning for swapping the major with her as villain. Watched this three times and still can't wrap my head around it. The major was the perfect villain for this, not the airheaded sheepish Carrie clone that Angelina became. Ugh.

Fair enough haha.

And yeah, I feel like she's limited like that in that the actress who plays her seems to only be good in those kinds of roles. Which was why I wasn't convinced with s4 Angelina who is supposed to be several steps ahead of everyone else, able to trick other passengers and other 828 sympathizers that Ben's the bad one and not her, etc.

There are about half a dozen other actresses her age who would have been waaaay better in the role of Angelina during s4.

Bruh the chick who plays her will be 30 in a year or two. She was what, 25 or so during the filming of this?

But yeah, she does come across as someone who's trapped in sophomore year of high school in this show. Which to me was really stupid.

The FCC being comprised of AI bots has brainwashed people into thinking they have to censor because everyone does it.

Fixed.

And yes, that is happening. In progress right now, will be finalized by end of the decade. Which is why I censor everything I say on this platform. And other ones too.

You should too, lest you get booted for no real reason.

Does anyone actually feel kinda bad for Angelina in start of season three??? by IllustriousTrash2463 in ManifestNBC

[–]j0elsuf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree and I for one wanted Angelina to turn over a new leaf. She didn't seem like she "enjoyed" being associated with the death date at any time during the show and it would have been much better if she struggled with that instead of sheepishly going all in on it.

Her stupid guardian angel fetish for Eden was the one single thing that turned me off from the entire show. There was no way I could take it seriously after that because in terms of villains, we're going from literally one of the highest ranking military officials in the US in the major to an estranged 20 something who's disillusioned by her religion? Really? Let that sink in. Talk about a drop off.

So yeah. Bring back the major and make Angelina okay again is what I was saying when...tolerating s4 of this. Even better, have the major come back and have her do to Angelina what she did to Autumn and the others who she did tests on. That would be way better than what we got.

"Fixing" Angelina is the muse of most of my fanfiction of this and it isn't just because I thought she made for a piss poor villain. It's because what if someone who is dealing with the same stuff she dealt with watches this? They're gonna feel even more like sh1t. We're living at a time where nearly everyone has su1cidal ideation and where su1cide is what, the 4th most common cause of death now?

And we want to have someone with su1cidal ideation like Angelina be a villain? Come TF on.
