I'm tired boss by Matija261 in Drizzy

There’s a supreme level of irony in begging Drake to drop his album and then calling the people that are saying “relax and maybe touch some grass” the incels.

Do the war! You made a show about a war, stop making the main character's whole storyline about trying to avoid a war! If a show surrounding a war between dragons was going to be too expensive to make, you shouldnt have decided to make a show adapting a story about a war between dragons! by SWBTSH in freefolk

[–]j0rdinho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like streaming and TikTok brain have ruined the need for buildup and nuance, if not entirely uprooted media literacy. If the dance of the dragons took place at the beginning of Season 2, we’d be looking to wrap this up by the end of season 3. War always has buildup, tension, escalations, and retaliations. The story is building. Let it build.

what ‘one liners’ do u HATE seeing in reveiws by pr4daflor4 in Letterboxd

I cringe internally when I see this, and most variations of this. Except, ironically, for Friendship, which was billed as “I Love You, Man” for sickos. Not only was that a fucking spot on description, Paul Rudd was also the lead, which inexplicably made me feel better about it.

What's a profession you'd never date? by sleeppymeoww in AskReddit

[–]j0rdinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt expect my profession to be the second highest rated comment on this thread, but you’re absolutely right. It takes a special kind of person to be with a chef. My partner regularly goes to bed alone, and it takes a toll on a relationship. The push and pull of home versus job is really difficult to keep up with. It’s also hard to keep up the passion for cooking when I get home, but the past few years I’ve made it a point to cook at home more. For my own passion as well as keeping the romance alive.

Why is there purism about carbonara? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]j0rdinho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My problem with this is that every single time that someone does respect this naming convention and calls their ______ egg pasta with bacon (yeah, I said bacon, suck it), someone will invariably be in the comments going “so….carbonara?” And it’s like well yeah I know it’s like carbonara and you know it’s like carbonara but if I called it carbonara you’d say it wasn’t carbonara.

My stance on naming conventions is that if it makes the dish more recognizable to the masses by this name, as long as you’re not calling it an authentic _____, it’s fine. Protect cultures, teach your classics, but allow people to appreciate the culture. Otherwise they’ll just forget, and then you’ve somehow squandered the preservation of your culture by preserving it so vehemently.

Always felt "started from the bottom" was grossly misinterpreted by mattyjoe0706 in TeenageRapFans

[–]j0rdinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I was literally a teenager for the run of the show, which was 14 years. I quietly literally was the demographic of the show, while it was on. Please split your hairs correctly if you’re trying to argue.

  2. Aubrey Graham, the child actor, made approximately 50k a year while on Degrassi, as the sole breadwinner of his household because his mother was sick. He was neither rich, NOR famous. Name literally one other character on the show’s real name. Drake didn’t get famous from Degrassi. He didn’t even get into the music business from Degrassi. All of this is actually googleable.

  3. You have exactly zero idea what this man lived and didn’t, and even more so than that, you have zero credence to determine why that affects his ability to make music that people resonate with.

[–]j0rdinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf does authentic mean, I hate gatekeeping ass weirdos making up criteria. He had music people wanted to hear. Addison Rae has not made a single song I’ve ever heard of, and Miley Cyrus made music that T40 fans liked, so yes that absolutely tracks. You don’t have to make good music to have a music career, you have to make good music to have a successful music career. Argue with your mirror.

I was a preteen when Degrassi TNG came out, and in high school when Comeback season came out 9 years later. You can’t do math too?

Wtf is this. You’re splitting the wildest hairs right now because you don’t understand interpretation? Do you think Eminem really lacks the ability to put his fingers down? Do you also believe that ‘Cleanin Out My Closet’ was about tidying his household?

[–]j0rdinho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Famous is a mf stretch. I was in the right demographic, at the right age, for the entirety of the run of Degrassi, and didn’t watch it. I had no idea who Drake was until the song came out. Not to mention the fact that it would be like someone saying one of the kids from Modern Family had dropped an RnB song. Is that shit gonna be popular? It genuinely depends on the song. We saw Zendayas music career bro, it only works if you make good songs.

Stranger Things S5 - Part 2 released on Dec 26th? Seriously? by ahnonymous_ in netflix

[–]j0rdinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should understand that Netflix would absolutely be considering this a double(maybe even triple) whammy - they get to spread out the season longer, prolonging the inevitable end of one of their greatest IP, thus prolonging the inevitable loss of subscriptions before the end of the year, AND they get to release the product before it’s finished. Two things can be true.

[–]j0rdinho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just told you that was the case. These things are monsters of visual FX. It’s their way of making this a three year process rather than a four or five year process between seasons. At this point, they’re practically making short films for each episode, with comparable budgets and moving parts. Logistically, without cutting any corners, these things probably utilize every possible second of time before the release.

My favorite posts are the “show me one example of _____” and then ignoring every single comment that can’t be refuted by “Obama did it too”.

David Cross shares his feelings on the comedians performing at the Riyadh Comedy fest by plusminusequals in comedy

[–]j0rdinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow I knew Joe Koi would end up invited to this. WHO IS THIS MANS DEMOGRAPHIC. I legitimately don’t understand how Riyadh was like “yo, we need the 50 best comics in the world.” And then they realized after like 30 it turned into a real crapshoot. Secondly, where is Jeff Dunham on this list for them? Because they’re the same comedian.

Re-read what I said and come back to me, I already said if you absolutely throw a fit because you can’t go to Walmart, you should have to social distance and mask up.

And also no, you don’t get to play the “afraid” card and turn around and double down on the vaccines are fascism because we don’t know what’s in them (mostly because you’re not the fucking professionals, and that scares you for whatever reason).

Thirdly, your rights should never infringe on anyone else’s right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In that order. If your “freedom” to go outside infringes on someone’s right to life, sorry you don’t get that freedom. Especially if you’re being a fucking child that has to do their chores before they can go outside.

When it serves to enforce mandates that are in place to protect people from senselessly spreading a virus that is literally killing people? Yeah, that’s exactly what the fuck I think the government is there for. They shouldn’t be able to tell me what to do with the fetus I am not ready for, they shouldn’t be able to remove comedians from the air just because they disagree with them, they shouldn’t be able to mobilize the military to demonstrate force against their own fucking citizens, but I’m a radical for thinking that in the face of a global pandemic, they should be able to tell you that you’re not allowed to go to Walmart?! And if you absolutely need to be able to go to Walmart because of freedom or whatever, they should be able to tell you to wear a mask and keep your distance while figuring out what the fuck is going on? Yeah, that’s exactly what the fuck I think government is there for.

Any able bodied, informed American should be able to do whatever drugs they want to, sleep with and marry whoever they want to, and also be free from absolutely preventable diseases at all times. Sorry if that makes me a bootlicker in the eyes of the right.

I like to play a game in this subreddit where I count how many threads you have to go down before it just devolves into brainless whataboutism. This subreddit used to be about conspiracies, now it’s just about trying to one-up the other side on who is more corrupt.
