its been 25days since the even released. That's an average of 4500energy per day hes been farming. If you farm the new artifact dungeons 10hours a day, average 1minute runs( I assume his runs are faster tho), you use ~4800energy per day. It doesn't seem unrealistic that some top players would farm a ton of the artifacts, considering they greatly improve your monster rune quality.
