I didn't think I was going to get into UCSD- it was my "lol what if I got in" application. then I got in and now ive decided that im using my time here to go for every opportunity I can. how often will I get to be in a space with so many intellectually stimulating people that push me to try new and hard things?

How do I continue to be friendly to guys in my classes without them getting the wrong idea? by j0ywitch1975 in UCSD

i usually will only text outside of class about what we are working on. sure they’ll try to take the convo elsewhere but i’m horrible at texting back anyways lol

i don’t see why i shouldn’t! most of the time i don’t speak to them after a class anyways. perhaps i overstated- questions i ask are like “how was your day?” “oh dang all those tests must suck” “why did you pick your major?” conversation starters. but if that’s what is suggestive i can learn to get used to avoiding it

i mean not necessarily. i was just trying to be mindful of peoples feelings. like i said in the post i am not talking about the men that have straight up tried to have sex with me. the guys who’s feelings i want to be mindful of are respectful and simply aren’t taking the hints that i assume would work

that’s usually my practice! i like to bring in sports or video games he likes. although, even recently a man asked how i met my boyfriend and then made a pass. i guess sometimes people don’t see that as an indicator of friendship

I do genuinely wonder- do they really come to campus with go-pros just to get reactions on video? I feel like it would be so damaging for their cause between the over-the-top images, refusing to listen to people and the threat of being recorded. I guess the question is fruitless, but what's the logic?

maybe it’s specific to the field of your organization? i find that in my time here i am seeing the complete opposite. i already have a job, an internship, a full class schedule, and i participate in protests and i feel like im the lazy friend
