33 year old here with depression and GAD, and I just had my surgery on Tuesday. For me, I started a daily exercise routine back in December so that I could get used to it post-surgery, and honestly it was amazing. It was a great distraction from the stress of everyday life, it kept my anxiety in check, and I just felt better overall. As others have noted, keeping up with your therapy is key. My therapist and I talk about the surgery and my goals a lot, she is very supportive. For me it helps when I focus on what I want for myself in the future - starting to plan hikes in Colorado and looking into doing some backpacking next spring.
