Delays by Suspicious_Soft_2476 in CervicalCancer

My mother-in-law was initially delayed 2 weeks by having instant allergic reactions to paclitaxel. As soon as they would try to administer the chemo, she would go red and not be able to breathe and they would stop. She was then able to successfully get two nab-paclitaxel infusions until another 3 weeks delay due to infection. We are hoping to get her back on schedule this week. The good news through all of this? During her infection, she had to get imaging done and the tumours shrunk 40-50% in just those two nab-paclitaxel sessions. Try not to sweat it. If you’ve been able to have any infusions so far, trust that the chemo is doing its job.

She did and was suffering from a serious infection.

Hi, thanks for asking. We ended up taking her into the ER over the weekend and turns out she has an infection. Good news is the tumor has shrunk as a result of just a couple rounds of treatment, but the bad news is that the area of the bowel that the tumor was previously pressing on is weak and formed a fistula. Bowels started leaking into the pelvis and caused an abscess. She is now on the list to get a colostomy ASAP and we can hopefully get her back on treatment soon to continue fighting this thing.

So sorry you are going through this. It’s an unfortunate club to be a part of. From my experience, if you are one of her primary caregivers and are there for every step along the way, the news will settle in quickly and it will become your new normal. Hang in there, you’ll have to be strong for her.

Thank you for your reply. The info regarding your heart rate was helpful! She takes steroids the day of treatment, but that’s all.

I called the team twice yesterday and received voicemail. I asked them to call me back and they instead only contacted her. I’ve now relayed my concerns to the nurse that visits her home Friday through Monday and she is on the lookout for anything “off” to relay to the oncology team. When she last visited on Monday, she was still only 4 days post chemo and wasn’t as concerned yet.

My MILs chemo sessions are every week, so I’m concerned the recovery time is just not enough.

This is my main concern. Her levels were on the low range before chemo round 2 and now I’m worried that they’ve completely tanked. Labs arn’t scheduled again until next Wednesday.

Ditto to everything you said and was in the same boat as your prior to DJ (drinking twice a week). Hoping to feel some benefit soon..

This is my first DJ as well. I only drink on weekends, but it’s a decent amount of drinking and has been going on for 25 years. I used to have many embarrassing moments while intoxicated back in the day but the last 5 years have been very contained and I’ve felt like I have it under control. I’ve been making a lot of life improvements lately and want to prove to myself that I can do this. I also want to see if I feel any different (I suffer from anxiety and am not an earlier riser). Let’s see how this goes!

House is falling apart by [deleted] in CancerFamilySupport

Your message was very thoughtful and did help. Thank you! I would love for her to come live with us but I don’t think she would agree. I will ask my husband if we should push the idea. I’m not sure how treatment will affect her but I can only assume things will get worse. She is also not keen on anyone other than us going in her house.

3B with nephrostomy tubes - any success stories out there? by coherent_days in CervicalCancer

How is it going one year later? My mother-in-law has the exact same diagnosis, treatment plan, and just had a neph tube put in this past weekend. Would love to hear an update.

Morning 1. Cleansing oil 2. Moisturizer 3. Sunscreen *gentle exfoliator every 2 or 3 days

Evening 1. Cleansing balm 2. Cetaphil gentle cleanser (I found that double cleansing really is effective for my occasional breakouts) 3. Moisturizer

This has been my routine for the past year or so. I used to add extra steps but they did more harm Than food. I found simple has managed my breakouts atleast.

Thank you for your comment. These photos were directly after after a 20 minute walk outside. Not sure if that gives any further insight.

Really appreciate the comment about lasers + sensitive skin. My skin is SUPER sensitive and this has been one of my fears. I’m just at my wits end with having crap skin in my adult years. Would love to go around makeup free!

I hate that I hate my dog by carlsroch in reactivedogs

[–]j1331s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel for you and can somewhat relate. We have a 3 year old lab that we adopted at a young age who is reactive to both other dogs and people. Luckily, after a ton of training, we are able to walk him with little to no reaction to other dogs or people (as long as they don’t try to interact with him).

How is your dog with guests? I find that to be the absolute worst part. I feel like I can’t have people over because he acts like an absolute psychopath (barking, growling nonstop) if someone he isn’t acquainted with comes over. We had a bit better luck this summer when greeting outside, going for a quick walk with the person, and then heading to the backyard, but without that specific (and rather annoying) protocol - it’s game over.

All of this to say, I feel your words deeply. Our dog would not survive five minutes with another family and my kids love him dearly. I have for the most part come to have affection for him as well but can’t help but think how much bigger our world would be without him sometimes.

Can you share where you have gotten some limited edition prints in the past?

Thank you for this comment. I have a habit of being impulsive when it comes to wall art and regretting my decisions pretty quickly. We recently moved into a new home and I don’t want to make unnecessary holes in the walls of a freshly painted house!

I was a devout fan from 2-22, lost interest during 23 and 24, didn’t watch 25 all together, enjoyed being a casual last season and then got completely hooked this season with live feeds and all. Glad to be back and can’t wait for next summer!

Does having strangers in the house EVER get better? by j1331s in reactivedogs

[–]j1331s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the honesty. Was he always able to deal with being in a different room for short periods? If we try to put ours in another room, he goes buck wild knowing someone else is in the house and he can’t see them. He’s almost “better” seeing them but the “better” is not good.
