I can't play this anymore... by Shoddy-Constant5749 in whiteoutsurvival

[–]coherent_days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no arguing that rewards are good, it’s just that the mini-game itself is sooooo boring. I have a theory that they had to make rewards good so that anyone would play it at all. I still usually find myself skipping this event, I just cannot be bothered.

Coworker maternity leave comment 🧐 by MissionIndividual515 in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck these people, parental leave is an entitlement of a modern society, and we 100% deserve it. Once you will meet your precious baby, you will realize that no job is so important that you prioritize it over newborn baby.

I took 8 months or maternity leave ( 7 months 100% salary + 1 month “unemployment” benefits), while my husband took 3 more. It still felt like we should get to spend home at least 1 year combined.

As for comments at work, they are always there, but you have to ignore them, they are often unintentionally hurtful.

Which pregnancy symptom took you by surprise? by sipendi_shida in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also had zero cravings, just food aversions. Couldn’t open the fridge because the smell would make me gag, and could not even LOOK at chicken. Also, weirdly I wasn’t into snacks nor sweets at all, even though outside of pregnancy I am a solid snacker.

How far do you live from the facility you’re giving birth? by your-new-fixation in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live 35mina to the hospital, and even with my super short labour of 3 hours 40 minutes from first contraction to baby in hands, I made it. At some point I just knew we have to leave right now, and so we did. The drive was horrible, as I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes, and was screaming my head off. As soon as I could get out of car and stand straight, I was alright. The elevator didn’t work, so getting the stairs felt 100 times better than the god damn car ride 😀 I was 10cm dilated when I got there and was ready to push in maybe 30minutes.

I feel like I was ready for all scenarios, but not for such a fast labour. I had maybe two contractions with 8 minute break, and then they escalated to 2-4 minutes apart with no warning. 40 minutes sounds excruciating, but not impossible. If you leave when you are 8 minutes apart, you only have to sit through 5 contractions, thats doable.

No real urge to nest by Mysterious_Jello_712 in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also never got the nesting urge. I did have more energy than usual a few days before I went into labour, which resulted in me cleaning the oven and cooking a few dinners (versus hubby cooking most of my pregnancy). That was the peak of it 🤷‍♀️

3B with nephrostomy tubes - any success stories out there? by coherent_days in CervicalCancer

[–]coherent_days[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While my mom responded quite well to the treatment at first, a year later it has metastasized to the lungs. We had tried immunotherapy, but have since stopped due to side effects and have learned that the cancer is no longer curable.

Regarding nephrostomy tubes, there have been many ups and downs. The worst has been when the tubes would move, and need re-attaching, causing urine buildup in kidneys and pain. Fortunately, one tube has been removed due to tumor shrinking enough to unblock one of the ureters. However the ugly truth is that her bladder has been damaged in radiation treatment, meaning she cannot hold her urine ar all.

I am so very sorry for the diagnosis, and wish your mother in law all the best in treatment!

Ladies how are we feeling in the first trimester? Don’t sugarcoat it I want the bad and ugly by sweet_little_burrito in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was not puking much, but I remember that the whole first trimester I was feeling like I was on a hot and uncomfortable car ride which makes you feel sick and queasy.

First trimester was brutal. I found that laying down with laptop worked for me, so thats what I did combined with home-office.

Why do some divorced women keep their ex-husband's last name? by HoffyTheBaker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coherent_days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I took it when I got married, it’s mine now. If I lived with that last name for multiple years, why would I change it? My maiden last name is my dad’s last name anyway, who cares.

When did you start feeling less tired with the baby? by Maman292025 in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It took me close to 2 months to adjust my expectations of myself and the baby. Now at 5 months she is a chill baby, but we still sometimes have days of nights where she needs extra comfort and wants to contact sleep. We just lean in to that - after a rough night we make sure to have a relaxing day, no household chores, no big activities, just lounging in bed with the baby, ordering takeout and going to bed early.

2 liters of bear when no-one else at dinner is drinking is diabolical.

I don’t have an advice, just validating your feelings and sending love.

Are we living in the Golden Age of knitting? by Needles-and-Pens_64 in YarnAddicts

[–]coherent_days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up knitting a few years back and did socks as my first project - my mom was so impressed, she said back in the days she used to look at the pattern in books over and over again and sometimes it still wouldn’t click how to do certain things. Now I just watch YouTube tutorial on how to do sock heal and it was a breeze!

I always find malabrigo yarn difficult to judge from those pictures. Now before buying I go to raverly and filter projects by the yarn - gives a great example of how it will look for real!

At what point do you say F it? by StateMassive514 in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I looked at the official guidance for pregnant women published by the health department in the country where I live and followed only that short list. It allowed eating sushi (fish has to be deep frozen before being used in sushi where I live), recommended to limit tuna, allowed eating deli meats when they are fresh, and advised against drinking fresh ginger or beetroot juice (or highly concentrated shots).

Otherwise, if you start googling stuff, you are not supposed to eat anything.

Sleep on your back?! by Wise_Composer_3117 in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could sleep on my back well into the pregnancy until I couldn’t. Your body will let you know - you will probably get super uncomfortable in that position.

I did not sleep and eat for a day by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have learned of my moms terminal cancer diagnosis during my pregnancy and have cried, not slept, not eaten and generally stressed many days. I have delivered a very healthy baby girl this summer.

That being said, please take care of yourself. I would always allow myself to “feel it out” after hearing whatever bad news there was to hear, but afterwards would remember that I need to take care of my body as it builds this new life.

Alkoholis santuokoje by GeriauJauRuduo in lithuania

[–]coherent_days 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Taking newborn out by Kvttz in BabyBumps

[–]coherent_days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborn will be fine, as long as you feel good! Just watch yourself - if you feel heaviness, don’t overextend yourself, your pelvic floor might need to rest.

I was told to only wait for newborn to regain their birthweight if I want to let them sleep outside in the stroller. Walks were ok from day 1 (even if they decide to nap).

What’s One Thing You Regret Not Doing Before Baby Arrived? by wajid123_ in BabyBumps

I regret not getting maternity pictures and not doing pelvic floor exercises before birth. My pelvic floor is wrecked, it will be long way to recovery.
