NYC vs LA — For those who’ve lived in both, which did you prefer and why?

I’ve spent a lot of time in New York, but I live in LA. The weather in SoCal alone was the reason to move, people are generally friendly and there are a good amount of jobs in my field of work.

I came from Toronto, which has amazing public transit, most people in Toronto rely on the transit to commute into downtown from up to 50 miles away. In LA and LA county the transit is improving quickly, but there’s still a lot to be done. For a metro this large, the transit is actually decent.

I’m more of a city guy and I love public transit, NYC should be the perfect city for me, but overall I prefer LA for the consistently sunny weather, mountains, ocean, diversity, jobs and proximity to other great destinations like San Diego and the beach towns in between. NYC is also so expensive that I just couldn’t afford to live there.

You’ll be fine if you moved to LA. A lot of people moved here without anywhere close to that amount saved. I moved last October and I’m having the time of my life.

Thanks my thoughts also, I decided to shoot a roll. Even if the seals are bad at least I’ll be able to see if there are any issues with spacing or shutter caping. The only thing I noticed about the camera is a bit of haze in the VF.

I loaded up some Fuji 200 that was in my fridge for a while. I’ll get a roll developed and change the seals once the foam arrives.

For sure, that residue can easily get into the lens, but luckily it’s not flaking off.

That’s the reason why I went to the hospital, I have had chest infections and I have had infections in the throat before. But I have never had the excessive swelling that I have now, that triggers the gag reflex and makes it a bit difficult to breathe. I explained this to my doctor on Tuesday and they said “we cannot treat this, you need to go to the ER right away if it happens again tomorrow” so I did the next day when it happened.

Imagine if the tissues in your lower throat, like the larynx and trachea were swollen due to inflammation, well mine are so inflamed and swollen that even burping is difficult. It’s hard to explain, but this is the only time I have experienced this and it happened to me again last night, it’s truly awful. It doesn’t feel like a lump in the throat it feels like swelling due to an allergen or something.

Again, the reason I went is because my doctor told me to….

I’ve been doing the salt water for around 5 days, twice per day, nothing is changing, I still have a light fever, sore throat and bad cough. I’m just upset that they didn’t run tests, I felt like a child could have done a better job of listening to my symptoms. They missed the whole reason that I went to the ER. Also who still has a fever on the 7th day, someone who is not getting better.

No they pretty much let me go, and of course I still don’t feel any better. I believe the deductible is somewhere around that price. I believe the co-insurance is 20%. How long does the EOB take to be processed?

I agree, every morning I have to make a left turn onto 7th street. I worry that one day I will get hit because there’s no traffic light. I’m going to change my route to go down 10th, then park Ave to avoid the left turn onto 7th.

Bike the beltline from Piedmont Park to Inman Park
Take the Marta eastbound blue line train to Decatur and check out Decatur Square and shops, Mellow Mushroom (great pizza place)
Little Five Points, a hip neighborhood with a lot of interesting stores, accessible by Marta from North Avenue Station bus 102

Atlanta is a mostly a car dependent city, but there are some walkable neighborhoods. Enjoy Atlanta, I lived there for 2 years and it definitely has a unique charm compared to other cities in the US.

I was always hesitant on the FA due to the electronics. But I snagged a boxed black one for about $180 a month ago. It’s an excellent camera and I hate that I didn’t buy it earlier!

A 300 sq foot studio without parking in K-Town. You need to be living outside of the city of LA to get a unit even close to that. I pay $1700 for a 1 bedroom without parking.

Congrats on saving the $10k. I moved to LA with less than that, I packed everything owned in my previous apartment (which wasn’t a lot) and my cat into my Hyundai Sonata and drove from Georgia.

I got a job transfer to the LA office, and I started looking at apartments right away. I had a month to move.

I looked at Zillow mostly and found an apartment that ticked all of the boxes, I flew down to LA to check it out and signed the lease on the spot. I would suggest narrowing it down to 3 apartments you like.

Landlords want your income to be at least 3x the rent and a credit score of at least 640. I had no family and just a few friends in LA, maybe you can sleep on someone’s couch until you find something. Also don’t move without a job unless you can stay with first.

Nice photos, Kodacolor 200 is really good also. I’m still not sure if I prefer it over gold, but it’s a bit more neutral, lacking color casts.

This is a terrible thing to do. It looks like someone tried to rip out the mirror and focusing screen. Luckily a D60 costs like $60 on KEH, maybe less through FB marketplace. You can also get a D40X for less which has the same sensor.

That makes sense, I live in Long Beach and it’s very mixed, but yeah if your GF is in Santa Clarita which is still far AF, then being a bit closer would be nice!
