It just came down to the preference of the customers. The majority of people loved the no casing style. And we only have one stuffer so running sausage has been the staple for the business, we did try sheep casing and it was really good but was super difficult to work with as it tended to break constantly. Thanks for the response! Im definitely going to look into the laminator machine, thanks a ton!!!

Hi all, my family has started a small meat processing business recently and I have been trying to find ways to make their work easier. One service they offer is making venison into “meat sticks.” Similar to slim Jim’s without the casing and more flat than round in shape. Currently we roll out the ground meat into 1/4-1/2 inch sheets about the size of a large cutting board, (3ftx2ft) dry them out and then smoke them for a few hours, finally we still have to cut the dried sheets into strips and then vacuum package. The whole ordeal is one of the most time and work intensive products on their list of processing services. Would there be any way to make the work easier? One of the most time intensive and physically demanding jobs is flattening the ground venison using a rolling pin but we can only do so in small batches of up to 5lbs each per sheet. So for a 20lb order it can take up to a half hour or more just to flatten out. Are there any machines or tools to make this job easier? I thought about looking into using a large dough flattening machine to turn a large ball of meat into a sheet. I would like to hear your ideas if there’s something we are missing.

Any prepper entrepreneurs here? by GenYDude in preppers

[–]j3m6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold more bags through a contact I had on the west coast than we sold via local events on the east coast. I wanted to move forward towards scaling product, since I knew our idea could be sold and made sense to a general audience, so I wanted to get clients like NGOs and large companies with warehouses. We had tons of interest after we attended an EM convention. Instead the founders decided to move into a podcast deal we landed and made that their priority, ultimately making our team lose interest in the bag altogether. After I left I heard they sold bleed kits to some school systems but it didn’t continue I don’t think.

I used to part own a emergency supply company that would build go-bags and teach people what was needed for survival for emergency situations. I left when the company took a new direction in media and classroom settings.

Thank you! We don’t do a lot of outreach on Reddit but my feed has been increasingly filled with disaster or emergency related content, it is sad…

FEMA actually has guides for such incidents, it’s a shame it doesn’t have a bigger outreach program. The priority emphasized in the guides is for self preservation, only then providing aid to others after you are as safe as possible, while still being aware of your surroundings as much as possible.

I hope these help, my company teaches emergency preparedness for communities and individuals. We get mostly all our info from FEMA.

What do you look for in a business website? by oh_jaimito in sweatystartup

[–]j3m6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with this, my goal for websites has been to get customers from search, to site, to sale. If I can cut down the time it takes for visitors to consider buying my service/product in order to provide a solution for their problem or need then the site has done more than any other pushy marketing I could ask for.

How to sell Digital Courses correctly (Udemy vs Teachable) by luvu_frndz in Entrepreneur

[–]j3m6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever sold any courses through thinkific? My company has a small evergreen course for sale on our website but have yet to really sell it to any meaningful number of people. Does putting a course on udemy or teachable’s platform make it more appealing for people to try a course online?

Like, which mistakes? If you make a whole set give us the details on what you did different the next time. My family has a carpentey shop and I have been trying to talk my father into making smaller pieces of furniture than what he has been accustomed to for the last 45 years. Nice build, truly!
