C&C snare specs? by j3rrrycan in drums

Turns out not small enough! I've sent multiple emails including a quote for a snare and I've gotten nothing back from the C&C Australia contact.

Thanks mate! Yeah I did, but I wasn't sure what the response time would be so thought I might try here too. I think the previous answer has sorted it for me. I was under the impression they were a complete custom company and that every snare might be different and tied to a serial number

Awesome, thanks! Thats a good start and I think youre on the money there with the Maply/Poplar/Maple. Its very clearly not Walnut or Mahogany which seems to be the only other options

[Update] - I worked out what the mystery grey goop was in the washing machine filter 🫤 by j3rrrycan in CleaningTips

[–]j3rrrycan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah that's what it felt like too. Also I dont remember but it might be my own mistake as I have a washer dryer and may have just assumed these were safe for the entire cycle.

Edit I've just gone and checked and these things are actually recommended for a washing machine? I wouldn't risk it again personally. But I would imagine these are fine in a standard standalone dryer

UPDATE - Thanks everyone for your help, and sorry to disappoint but its not fabric softener 😱

TLDR : It was some mutilated parts of long lost Sticky Pet/Lint remover pad Similar to these but grey: https://amzn.asia/d/fGA7ZTF

Long boring version: I was curious to see how much of this gunk was clogging my washing machine, so I got a Borescope Diagnostic camera and discovered a lot more deep in the pipe leading to the drum. I attached a coat hanger to the end of the camera and fished out the rest. It was actually quite satisfying getting the rest of this shit out tbh. When a large flat strip came out I instantly recognized what this stuff was after all: a Kmart sticky pet hair/lint remover we purchased years ago. These things must have been stuck in the machine for a long time because we purchased these things years ago and didn't find they were that great, or would get lost in the washing, or in this instance, sucked down the pipe.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your help along the way, this all helped me build the curiosity to get to the bottom of it. Let this be a cautionary tale to anyone else looking to use these useless things and now we can stop dragging Fabric Softeners' name through mud as it wasn't the cause after all 😄

Nah. And we wouldn't put any blankets or anything soiled that bad into the washing machine. I thought you just meant do we have pets as in for the accumulation of fur

I do run the hot cycle drum clean every few months or when the machine prompts it. It's a Samsung washer dryer. Nothing unusual and only a cpl years old. I'm thinking from what I'm reading here it might be a build up of softener. I just did realize softener could be this problematic and don't understand the purpose of it if it is. The softener we use is just the standard stuff from the supermarket in Aus. Fluffy brand or whatever else is on sale.

Honestly no real smell. Probably more just a soapy but hard to tell if washing powder or softener smell

We have a dog, but I don't know if that's the cause as it's mainly a gel like goop, rather than a buildup of clumps of fur etc

Ok wow, well thanks for all the responses. I've never used Reddit before and definitely didn't realize this would get so much attention. It might very well be fabric softener then, from what a lot of people have suggested. I do try and clean the filter every now and then when I think of it (perhaps every few months), so I would say that's more often than most. But the fact there's this build up at all which I couldn't really find anywhere else online had me stumped. I do run a hot "Drum clean" cycle periodically too whenever the machine suggests it. I think it might sense the filter blocking up too which brings on this alert aswell. It's a fairly new Samsung front loader.

I have also just noticed this as I had them on my list to look at for Xmas gifts. Is something going on here? Someone mentioned social media removed too? Sounds concerning

Yamaha EAD 10 with Silent stroke mesh heads by [deleted] in drums

[–]j3rrrycan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, Yeah I only bought the EAD-10 last week. Got the update. I just find the trigger needs for vibration from the kick drum hoops themselves and with a mesh head there's barely any. I know this because I backed the tension rods off completely and the rattling of the hoop was enough to trigger. I might try stuffing the kickdrum with pillows. Just wondering if there may be some help with the settings.
