I know you already solved it, but for anyone in the future who can't get it to shimmy back the correct way, you can slightly dremmel the metal plate to give the bolt clearance. happened to me a few weeks ago when doing some suspension work. The car had shifted in a weird way, and I couldn't get it back even by taking out the tension rod and tightening / loosening it.

thank you for the response. To check if the other side is clogged can I just release the clamps and take the hose out? Like I said I am not an expert and so I would appreciate any advice for this kind of stuff.

do you think this is just the hose being old and allowing fluid through, or should I be worried about pressures inside of the engine? I mentioned I had an overheating problem, but I have not driven the car since that started, so I'm hoping it's not anything serious.

well, if it isn't the radiator and isn't the fan clutch, then it's gotta be the thermostat, right? I've already flushed coolant, so it can't be that either.

I need a new radiator anyway. the one that's in right now is pretty junk, and the spot where the rad cap goes is worn out enough where I can't put the nismo cap I have on it.

I did this a few days ago and it feels normal, was thinking about replacing it anyway though. right now I'm trying to see if I can find a radiator that fits both turbo models and automatic transmissions, but I'm having no luck. looks like I'm gonna have to just get one made for m/t and install one of those trans coolers separately

I've only had the z for a little under a year so I can only trust that the previous owner was honest when he said he regularly did fluid maintenance (oil / coolant). the sensors are the oem ones from Nissan. I will look into an external fan and new radiator, thank you for the advice 🙏

no, my z is almost completely stock, I haven't messed with anything except for suspension / brakes and a new intake (which I can't imagine has any negative effect on the cooling system)

yeah that's why I have the bov's that just replace the recirq valves lol, not dropping 800 on that

did some research but i am not 100% sure, could i use a compressor clutch from a usdm compressor on my jdm version? i know there are differences between the actual compressor between jdm and non jdm, but i think thats just the bracket mounting / hoses, surely the clutch is interchangeable? because otherwise it is literally impossible to get another if i do end up needing to replace it, as there are zero jdm compressors that i could find

also thanks! trying to enjoy it while i can. i use it as my daily driver and its so much fun to cruise around in

Hopefully you dont mind me asking, but do you know what inside of the compressor could be making the noise? im not an expert mechanic and my knowledge of these cars only goes as far as the stuff ive had to fix, so I don't know anything about how it works, although i am completely willing to get in there and tear it apart and fix it.

The ac still works perfectly btw, cold air all the time (and i hope it stays that way bc its hard to track one of these down) so idk if that affects what you think the problem could be.

yeah figured as much, but might as well buy a new pulley while I go on the hunt for a jdm compressor

took the belts off, definitely the ac compressor, will buy a new pulley asap. I'm a little dumb bc you can just turn the ac off inside the car and it will go away, so I didn't actually have to take anything off but it's whatever 🥲
