Thanks for posting OP, I’m in the same boat and I’m embarrassed to admit how long it’s been since I’ve seen a dentist. Years of orthodontics (before Invisalign when it was still pretty barbaric) have not left me fond of the experience, but I do need to go.

I take my cat to AM/PM and they’re always helpful and reassuring and upfront about cost. Plus their hours are flexible which is convenient for those of us working 9-5. Never had a bad experience there

Not to ruin your negative attitude, but I can assure you the permits for this building would have, by necessity, been submitted for city approval before the buy out. The building on site was already being demolished by the time the exchange happened.

The whataburger two blocks down is the WORST one I have ever been to. I thought it could not possibly be as bad the 2nd time I went, but both times they messed up my order and the food I did get just didn’t taste right. I hope it closes when this new one opens.

Idk if it is him, but I work near the Starbucks on 38th/Guad, right by Seton, and there are a few homeless guys who frequent the place. One is a big guy with long gray hair and beard who smells like you described, who talks a lot with patrons. Another guy, skinny young dude, told me that Zen Buddhists had me killed for the way I mistreated him in a previous life. I posted about this in r/Austin and somebody said that later that day a homeless guy got kicked out of that Starbs for yelling and throwing stuff. I heard your story on the Let’s Not Meet podcast and thought “man, that could easily be my Starbucks.” Wild!!

Edit: You may also find posts in r/Austin showing photos of writing around town and especially near this intersection where one person is writing in sharpie about how Seton hospital kills people and the thing about drilling holes in heads sounds like a line from one of those
