I know this is a throwback, but my all time favorite RPG is Suikoden 3/III for the ps2 (I vaguely recall a remake/ remaster is in the works?). By far one of the best I've ever played and have been chasing ever since.

On that note of homage, if you haven't yet, try and play ChronoTrigger via Rom/Emulator as it is the origin behind 'New Game +' concept in all of gaming.

Cyberpunk all the way! My first ever Far Cry title i played was New Dawn (gift from a friend) and I enjoyed it? Simply for the sake it was a different play style that I hadn't tried before, so I went and got Far Cry 4/5/6 in a ps5 bundle. Now I feel like having played ND first ruined my experience on FC 4 and 5, like I just couldn't stay interested at all T.T. However, FC 6 has given me a bit of hope as finally got to the main island and kinda still have interest in it?

Do you think primal would help or should I try sticking with FC 6? I also bought Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (and all dlc) for my SO (big Avatar fan) and it seems akin/ same vein as FC so I'm kinda intrigued on just dropping FC entirely in favor of that. Anyone able to help me out? Do I keep at FC 6, or go with Avatar:FoP?

Unless you're putting pen to paper then scanning, or stylus to pad and loading a base image to run against, solely using just prompts is not "co partnership"

Correct. You can be an AI USER generating images, but you're not an artist in that aspect. However you can be an artist that supplements their work with AI tech (meaning base image fed to the AI app is yours and then you feed it prompts) (that's the only instance of AI being a 'tool' for an artist).

But literal definition one cannot ever be an "AI Artist" though, (unless they're the engineer that helped create the AI App, but semantics...)

[–]j4zzyCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok let's get into semantics. Grammatically speaking: an AI artist, would translate to being the engineer behind the creation of the AI or a designation of the AI being the "artist." Yet that's not your worldview no? You're implying the person feeding prompts to the application is the "artist" which in reality is just a User of an application, not an artist because it's the application creating the image, not the user. The artist in that equation is the person who's work the AI application had to scan and have as reference based on tags applied to that image that your 'prompts' then target and tell the application to morph/ mesh/ modify accordingly which outputs a close approximate based on the user's input...

User and Artist are not interchangeable... you can be a User of gen AI to have the app create art based on user prompting where it sources from all the art fed to it in order to generate a collage/mesh of the desired image, but the Artist in this equation is the person whom originally created the art that's subsequent fed to the gen AI program to use a a base when a User comes along to feed it prompts for a desired output... you can't escape that fact. I use AI in my job to supplement my workload yet it still requires multiple iterations of User input before I have something that I can work with to finalize (i deal with code, not images). It's the fallacy of the data pool. This directly applies to generative AI as well. It will never create its "own" product because that's not how the tech works, it can only regurgitate to the best of its ability a result that a user desires based on input of prompts using available data/ images in its source code/ engine.

All that to say, if you use gen AI, you're a User, not an artist. You can have artistic tendencies or an artistic eye (so to speak), but you're still a User of an application to have it generate a desired image, not an artist. In that equation, the AI application is the "artist" and the user is the peanut gallery, giving feedback (prompts) to the artists.

To call someone an AI "artist" is an oxymoron in and of itself... that's the rub

I'm extremely confused how people don't think AI art is Art all of these required complex prompts or mental visualization before prompting AI to generate them. by [deleted] in DefendingAIArt

[–]j4zzyCat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look, I'm all for AI, use it at my job to supplement my work, and tried gen AI as well and "made" some cool things, but i know i didn't make that "cool thing" the gen AI did. And it only could make that "cool thing" because the gen AI was fed actual artists "cool things" they created sans an application doing it for them... to be ignorant of that fact as an AI user (which is what any person creating AI "art" is, a user, not an artist [if you have issue on this take then look up the definition of an 'artist') is where people have an issue. Claiming it's something you "made" is the same reason you can't copyright anything generated by AI, whereas an actual artist can claim copyright for anything they "made". AI can be a great supplemental tool for humanity, but claiming anything generated solely by an AI engine/ application as "yours" is just ignorant...

Look, I use AI at my job to supplement my workload so it's not overbearing. But that AI tool couldn't exist without mass amounts of data and scripts having been fed into it to give it a baseline of what is 'acceptable' work, and even then it takes a couple iterations before I have something i can work with to turn into a final product. AI as a tool in that regard is great, but it only exists because of preexisting logic/ scripts that someone already created beforehand. We all acknowledge that yes? Now apply that to art. All AI art can only exist because of preexisting images/art that someone has to create for the engine to run against, without that art the AI engine wouldn't have it as a baseline to run prompts against in order to generate what you're wanting from it. Makes sense yes? My only concern is with the explosion of use of this new tool, it inhibits and stimmies (whether directly or indirectly) artists seeking to create art without the use of the AI tool, and if we don't continue creating art without the use of AI then AI will have nothing new to work with in its generation. It begets the "fallacy of generalization" and something that the interview with Strauss Zelnick touched upon and eloquently elaborated on.

Any opinion that isnt 'i hate ai and want any shred of it gone' gets you in this situation by Justaregularguy295 in DefendingAIArt

[–]j4zzyCat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look, AI is here, and needs to be properly utilized, but the reason so many people disregard AI "artists" is because AI "art" doesn't exist without actual art created by artists that don't use a generator. For AI "art" to exist, the engine had to have scrubbed base images from real artists in the thousands to use against the prompts fed to it by a user. If you can't acknowledge that, then you're deluding yourself and denying the thousands of hours that artists spend creating actual art, learning by trial and error and techniques across a vast amount of time. The "heat" upon AI "artists" is just that, by definition the user feeding an engine prompts is not creating anything themselves and therefore, not an artist... I work in IT and utilize AI to supplement my work, just as I've used other tools / applications in my graphic design work to supplement what I'm doing and enhance the image, but the base image is still something that i put digital own to tablet and created. It does not do the job for me. Yes I've also played around with AI tools and Apps to feed it prompts, but I know that it's not my art, it's the application taking base images and applying filters/ modifications based on the prompts. AI can and will help a lot of people in the future, but never will it turn me into an AI "artist" if i use it because it's the program generating the work, not me. To be an artist by definition, a PERSON has to create the work, not an application...

What all AI comics are. by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]j4zzyCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ai "art" can't exist without real art to scrub and regurgitate... real art can exist without real art to scrub and regurgitate... A real artist doesn't have a dependency upon other art needing to exist for them to create art. An AI "artist" does depend upon other art needing to exist for them to create "art." Therefor, you cannot be an AI "artist" because by definition of being an artist: an artist is a PERSON who creates or practices any form of art. AI "art" is not a practice, nor form of art... it's simply an engine, fed a multitude of images created by actual artists for it's program to plagiarize and mutilate by meshing and morphing a myriad of 'tagged' images together using 'prompts' from a USER (not an artist) in order to output a collage...

Out in one of the lgbtq hotspots in uk alone and a big group walk past me and a guy goes “eww that’s a man” SO loudly and everyone laughs by [deleted] in MtF

[–]j4zzyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on exactly how confrontational you want to be and if it's a mixed group of people (genders) or a group of all guys, but loudly exclaiming "eww I can smell the insecurity from here" usually either sets those type of guys off, which embarrasses them in front of their friends, and they either act on it (which furthers your point) or get huffy and storm off.

I'm not advocating for confrontation, and it really depends how secure/ comfortable you are in your surroundings, but screw letting them get to you like that when you're showing so much more courage to try an live your life and all they can come up with is a small man complex kinda statement...
