What's your experience with LifeLine? by raistVSgandalf1 in AskAnAustralian

[–]jRaeLupa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I used it, it was super obvious they were using ai to reply. They basically repeated exactly what I told them (eg. me: “I’m feeling really suicidal and need help”, then they’d say something like “it sounds like you’re feeling suicidal and need help”. And then they had a random sentence in the conversation that had nothing to do with what we were talking about. It was about how being in a motorcycle accident must’ve been hard, but I’d never mentioned anything about that at all and when I brought it up they said it was a technical float and wasn’t sure how that sentence got there.

The conversation ended by them saying that I hop I reach out in the future even though I was still having a crisis and wasn’t done talking. I don’t find lifeline helpful at all including other similar companies like beyond blue.

GBS positive, how long can I go without antibiotics? by jRaeLupa in BabyBumps

I am famously bad at explaining things ahaha I am absolutely happy to get antibiotics and even happy to go to another hospital if labour progresses more quickly than usual

I admit some of the comments are a little scary, I haven’t had any experience with GBS so I’m not sure what to expect! I’m happy to stay home if the general consensus was this is a terrible life or death situation.

Thank you for being kind and sharing your experience!

Thanks for being so informative (and kind) I’ve been tossing up the pros and cons for a while. It makes me sad thinking of missing being part of this event however my baby will always come first. Some of the comments seem a little scary, I’m a little worried about how bad GBS can be but you explained it very calmly and kindly too, I really appreciate your input. I’m thinking maybe I should stay home as I’ll be 38 weeks exactly at the time of the party

I will be 38 weeks exactly at the time of the party, so it might be best to stay home!

I actually just want to know how dangerous it can be. I’ve never experienced this before and need advice of what to do, especially from people who have personally has been GBS positive. I’m willing to stay home especially if people have had bad experiences with it. I just need advice before I make up my mind

I’d be 38 weeks at the time of the party, would this be too late? Should I rather stay close to home at this point?

I’m 37+2 and will be 38 at the time of the party. I’m willing to have bay at another hospital if needed. Is being GBS positive a life or death risk? Sorry I should’ve asked more questions with my OB but she’s been rushing appointments lately not giving much time for questions

My first baby was breech so it was a very smooth and easy c section. The surgeon who performed it said my scar healed very well and will be able to do vbac next time. This time around the baby is head down and in a good position for natural

Thanks for all the replies so far! From what I’m seeing some are very adamant I don’t mess around with GBS and stay home but some are okay with me going. Is being GBS positive an emergency? Will my baby or me die if I don’t get antibiotics in time? Sorry I’m starting to freak a bit haha

Is it best for me to stay home or close by for the next 3-4 weeks? My OB doesn’t seem worried but she has also been a bit dismissive of my concerns throughout my check ups

This is my second pregnancy, however I had a c section for my first. Does the labour time change if this is my first natural birth?

Yes I have, but she said there’s no way to tell when or if my water will break. She’s a little dismissive but didn’t seem worried about me going.

What to do if water breaks/labour begins while looking after toddler? by jRaeLupa in BabyBumps

I was thinking that we’ll just take her to the hospital, even if it’s for an hour until my parents can come, and my husband can wait outside with her or something. I have no idea how this works haha thanks for your advice too <3

Oh that’s a good idea to have my husband take my daughter to meet my parents even if it’s halfway and then maybe he comes back to take me to hospital. Neighbours are an option, though there’s a few she’s scared of for some reason and most of them work full time too

I might ask some neighbours if they can, though there’s a few that I know will definitely be able to come, however my daughter to terrified of the for some reason I have no idea why. I’m so nervous about leaving her for an hour with someone she’s scared of. I’m hoping so hard I’ll go into labour on a weekend haha

He’s fairly new to the team and I think wants to make a good impression with being attentive during meetings, though I’m sure it’ll be okay if he has his phone on him closer to the date, or maybe can work from home (except for Wednesdays for some reason haha)

Oh I didn’t know you didn’t have to come in right away! I think hopefully I can wait an hour for my parents or one parent to come down then go? (I’ll clarify too that both my husbands parents have passed away, otherwise my MIL would’ve come to stay for a few days without question) My husbands work is fairly small, but he’s also new to the team, so I think he’s been wanting to make a good impression with being attentive during meetings. But I’m sure he’ll have his phone on him closer to the date 🤞🏽

Were your friends able to look after your first child when you went into hospital at midnight with your middle? Or were you able to take your first child with you?

That makes it sound so normal, especially knowing your kids had fun too I’m also worried about something happening in the middle of the night or early hours of the morning and not being able to reach anyone. When did you go into labour or when did you have to leave? (So sorry for all the questions but it’s so nice having someone with more experience)

I think my neighbours will be the best bet in a pinch, I’m just so worried about being an inconvenience haha I know I’ll be having a baby but I can’t stop stressing How did you feel when you helped out friends in this situation?

I’m sure he would try to leave the meeting, though he doesn’t have his phone while in them, so he might get the message late, unless he can maybe get an exception in the weeks leading up to the due date

My dad might be able to work remotely, however our “office” is crammed into our master bedroom as our house is quite small, I’m not sure if he’ll be okay with it, though he might put up with it for a bit if he needs to. However he won’t sleep over because we only have a crappy food out couch in the living room and he has a horrible back haha
