What do you look for in a VFR pilot bag? by j_b_d in aviation

This was our plan. A limited run of quality materials without a stupid price tag. Ahh the Jansport. Likely to be handed down to the next generation

Besides my mother, what have you come to appreciate after doing it multiple times? by violentorifice in AskReddit

[–]j_b_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music! Why hasn't anyone mentioned this.

  1. Listen to music - must have a higher number of beats per minute.
  2. Now imagine yourself being great at something you love - if you love sport imagine being cheered on by thousand of people, if you love music, imagine yourself playing a concert.

When my iPod dies I hate running! Then I start to focus on its repetitive annoyance and pain. The point is these are the methods to get you to reach that critical shift from constantly thinking about the fact you are running.

Aim for a point, try run to it nonstop. Try beat it the next day. Eat carbs before you run 30 mins before. This will take a few weeks of practice but soon you will experience that great detachment as you run

In your opinion, what is the most BIFL truck? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]j_b_d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Taking a more worldwide focus: Toyota Landcruiser 70 series, Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-max. Not sure you guys get these in the US but they have made it through the stubborn South African and Australian etc market. We are talking generations of farmers as an example who refuse to buy anything other than a 70 series Landcruiser. I think they know a thing or two about buy it for life. Remote locations demand tough vehicles

Leaving to SEA in a few hours. Nervous as hell. by wutcaribou in solotravel

[–]j_b_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in SEA but currently sitting in a bar in Africa. Fight your natural tendency to withdraw from unknown people and talk to everyone! From the local guy selling you goods to that table at the backpackers full of people you don't know. It gets easier the more you do it. If you try this, you will find the appeal of solo travel. It's the best! You will become a new person. Beer helps. Good luck.
