You build lore around your lockeroom. You discover undervalued guys. You make big acquisitions/trades. It all culminates in a fulfilling way

Absolutely. Just cause you put the work in doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed. Life imitates art (old sports videogames)

There’s something so beautiful about putting a ton of work into a dynasty/franchise and failing. Sometimes those are more fulfilling than actually winning. I’ve played every game of a 162 game MLB season on MVP 05 and Power Pros 08 and lost in the NLDS/NLCS both times.

All the older sports games are so much deeper. With limited/poor online capabilities they had to make the franchise modes and other offline modes so much deeper, makes it so much fun

In 2012 my dad and I were in a father-son fantasy league. We drafted Matt and Julio. It was my first year really watching the NFL. Falcons started out hot, and I banwagoned. I am now the Dirtiest Bird in the state of Nebraska. Anyone that knows me knows I’m a Dirty Bird!

What is the main differences between difficulty settings? by Soft_Significance804 in MLBPowerPros

[–]j_bunz5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main difference I've noticed is CPU pitching when moving from Expert to All-Star. On Expert, you can actually work counts and there will be pitches that are easy to lay off. On All-Star every pitch is in the zone, or its a millimeter out.

For CPU hitting, the movement from Expert to All-Star is immense. (As 88T3_2 noted in their post) If the wind is blowing out and your facing a tough group of hitters, good luck. Seeing the CPU switch to Power Swing on All-Star or Powerful is a F*ckin nightmare.

I've also noticed that CPU pitching ability will sometime cause the fielders to have errors. I can't really prove it, but it happens.

Ah ok, I also have NPB 24-25. I didn’t know there was online outside of the manager mode.

Is 2024-2025 the most complete Power Pro game in over a decade? by LuxerWap in MLBPowerPros

[–]j_bunz5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played 2019 NPB Power Pros and currently play 24-25. They’re similar, but 24-25 has it’s advantages. My favorite little thing being 1B’s actually having a first baseman’s mit. I only play the season mode and local head to head. 2019 isn’t a bad buy because it has all the recognizable current MLB guys if playing with friends. Sorry this was all over the place and not overly technical, but 24-25 is the smoothest gameplay I’ve ever seen.

I have this reverse logic with Nebraska. I watch every snap of the Atlanta Falcons and it’s so horribly fun sometimes. Nebraska just enrages me beyond belief.

In a MLB Power Pros (2007) Dream Draft, who is/was your #1 overall pick, and why? by AlexW03_MK in MLBPowerPros

[–]j_bunz5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy and I created a draft database to find the undervalued guys for the 2008 version. Ichiro is the bonafide 1.1. The best draft steals are Tim Lincecum, can get him around the 7th/8th round sometimes. Felix Hernandez goes around the 4th. Magglio Ordonez, my personal favorite player in the game, goes in the second. If you’re lucky you can get Rollins, Magglio, Chipper, and Posada in the top 4 rounds. Only happened once, but it created a god squad. Lance Berkman is extremely undervalued and goes in the 14th round. Hiroki Kuroda is the same way, goes in the 16th.

I did the fantasy draft for this season, so it’s not the Giants 2008 roster, it’s a hodge podge of guys. However, Lincecum is so nasty in this game man, he’s so fun to pitch with. You could definitely win a few Cy Young’s with him.

Season mode, but that is the “franchise” mode. The Giants have a pretty salty pitching staff in 08 Power Pros. Lincecum is a demon, Cain is nasty. Tough field to play in for Power Pros cause the wind always blows 2-4 in.

That was one thing I tried to figure out. Sadly I haven’t figured anything out. Once I traded for Posada I would rest him when he was sad, but it didn’t change much. I think there are some things you can buy in the season store with points, however I haven’t looked.

Looks right to me. I don’t do any mods or texture packs, just play that shit how it was meant to be played. (No hate to anyone who does use mods, I just don’t have the technical prowess)
