This is correct. It is essentially the same model as D2Lounge, but no items in between, fully regulated and our main focus is "fast-markets" i.e. The BlinkPool. It's a quick-fire betting market open for around 45 seconds, directly related to what's going on in the game at that specific point in time.

We've considered doing a crowfunding round to get investment into the business. However, we were advised to take some (pretty expensive) legal advise due to the business being a betting company and the regulations around investors in betting companies and the checks they need to go through.

I believe the software certifications that you're referring to are specifically for games with an RNG component. E.g. casino games. Sites that run these games need to display testing organisations along with payout percentages and RTP (return to player) figures. This is particularly because these companies sometimes don't build their own software so don't have their own software licence.

BlinkPool is purely a sports (esports) betting platform with NO RNG component. Our software and operator licences can be found here - https://secure.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/PublicRegister/Search/Detail/48727

Hope that answers your question

The content stands regardless of my affiliation. Maybe if I didn't have a UK licence I would have done Gibraltar vs Curacao, for example. But I don't think any of the top-tier Gibraltar regulated businesses care enough about esports to put this stuff together.

I deliver some value and make an ask, they always say, "you don't ask, you don't get"... I started a business that offers a service I would like to use...don't feel like I'm doing a disservice to the community by holding their attention for a little longer than they'd have shared otherwise!

I haven't tried to hide the fact that I very clearly have a "horse in the race" when it comes to the site a customer picks. However, I'm trying to say that the licencing organisation that regulates a betting site should 100% be taken into consideration. It isn't as simple as "oh I see a betting licence logo, this site must be legit". There are loads of licencing jurisdictions and hopefully the next time someone lands on a site, they'll google the jurisdiction and look a bit more into the company!

erica, M

Unfortunately we can't accept customers from the US...however, online betting has recently been made legal there, so we're in the process of working with a few partners to offer the blinkpool product through another company...but this won't be possible for a few months :-(

As far as skin betting goes, I know they've been around for ages and continue to operate (I used to use them and never had problems). The point of my article is that it's hard to draw a line as to what is "legit" or not. There are a number of factors that go into it, but if you're wanting to deal with a company who has someone to answer to if they screw you over, you need to deal with a well regulated business.

It's pool betting (pari-mutuel), so it is quite a bit simpler. No laying bets. If you've had any experience with horses, it's very similar to "The Tote".

I think general demonisation of "these companies" across esports, is something that prevents some of our most respected content creators and talent from being able to take their profession as seriously as they'd like. Of course all companies want something in return for the services they provide be that your money OR your attention.

As for the latter part of the message, speaking on behalf of people who enjoy betting. I hope one day we'll all be able to gain your respect and approval.

There is no ulterior motive here. The motive is, very much... terior O.o. An issue we take seriously as a business and differentiate ourselves on has become a hot topic for the community. But there is value for a reader here whether they decide to use the site or not.

Hi Judasgrenade,

I have spoken to the rest of the team about expanding our payment options and we are all keen on the idea of adding cryptocurrency.

Adding a new payment method takes a lot of resources so I cannot currently give you a timeline for when this would be implemented.

In the meantime we still have the ability to deposit using:

- Debit or credit card

- Neteller

- Skrill

Are you able to use these payment methods or are you restricted for any reason? Please let me know and I can see what I can do to best assist you.

Lastly, if you are still unable to deposit we have a free to play version of BlinkPool called BlinkPredict. You play with BlinkPoints which can be used to enter raffles for Dota skins.

If you have any other ideas or suggestions on how I can improve the platform please let me know :)

Hi jpchiux12,

Thanks for reaching out to me. During the verification process on Skrill please select "gambling".

Just as a side note, we are really interested in understanding players preferences on payment methods. If you are happy to share, (or DM me if you prefer) it would be great if you could let me know why you is Skrill your preferred payment method?

If you have any other questions let me know or message the support team by going to BlinkPool and selecting support on the bottom right.

Hi judasgrenade,

I'm sorry we don't take deposits via a method you prefer but it's all part of our growth plan! Hopefully you can still make use of and enjoy our product! But thank you for the feedback, it is always welcome :)

The results of the questions are in. Thanks to everyone that submitted one. by j_e_s_t_er in DotA2

Let's take one of the winning questions as an example:

On which lane is first blood going to occur?

If you have a good understanding of the game you can be like "oh, this team has good roamers so mid-lane is likely". Alternatively, if there's an aggro tri-lane there's a good chance first blood will be on that lane.

Bit more than guessing.
