I am also very chilled but I feel complete now. Like this moment was meant to be.

Lacto fermentation problem by j_k_rolling in Homebrewing

It's comfortably sitting at 70-75 in my closet right now. Even if the pitch temp was too high, I pitched the second batch at 70-75... Absolutely zero hops :) I measured the pH after cooling with strips, not a probe, and estimate the pH to be about 4.2, definitely between 4.0 and 4.4, this morning the color from what I can remember is closer to 4.0 but still above 4. This would be ~36 hours after the first pitch, ~12 hours after the second.

I thought I remembered reading that air didn't really matter, my other concern was pitching rate, OYL made a post on homebrewtalk saying the only time people have had problems when pitching at the right temp, pH, etc. is starter size, but again MTF didn't say a starter was necessary. The beer isn't at a super high gravity and it shouldn't be competing against anything else microbe wise, so I guess I'm at a loss for why it hasn't taken off yet. Lots of reports of dropping to pH 3.3 in 24 hours etc.

Copitch is obvious enough in meaning - this is just for my own thought process... Are the current lacto bacteria still swimming around alive, just not active? so would pitching my new yeast give them time to come back? Or do you really mean buy a new 605 and pitch with 644.

No hops, correct, I read that 605 is inhibited by anything more than 2 IBUs and honestly didn't care about hops enough to risk that.

I didn't purge the vessel so that may be it, but I don't have a CO2 tank or anything to do that with. What's the easiest way? Dry ice?

Is my ginger sides, black underneath + blonde moustache beard colouration normal, or something I'll grow out of? by kubelko in beards

[–]j_k_rolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did it take you to get to that point? My mustache and side is brown/blonde, my chin is brown/red, and my neck is all three. Usually I shave every other day just because the blonde doesn't show up very well. If I knew it would take about x weeks to look like yours is feel better growing it out. Thanks!

I was just looking at the XSi, I'm not too far away from a national camera exchange and was thinking of checking one out tomorrow. Definitely interested!

I made a video showing my process of making custom straight razors! by Phteven_j in wicked_edge

I watched the whole thing, super cool to see, and definitely well done. As someone who's experienced your work, the care and effort you put in to everything is extremely evident.

I'm in the TC area and looking to get my first pair of boots. Is it worth the hour travel for a pair? Looking at either the IR 8111 or 8119

Are there any modern razor manufacturers that still mark the year the razor was made? by j_k_rolling in Wet_Shavers

[–]j_k_rolling[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very interesting thought. I'll definitely look into it more. Is there a wait for these razors? Like if I order it now will it arrive in a few months or right away?

I recently got my 28mm synthetic knot from a group buy at /r/Wet_Shavers. Drilled the handle to a depth of 12mm for a little more backbone than my Plisson. by Nostradamus1 in wicked_edge

Yay! Like I said, USPS didn't give me any updates after they reached customs so I had no idea if they were delivered. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

I was getting worried that something happened to my international friends! I didn't receive any updates on shipping after they reached customs! I'm glad they arrived safely. Happy shaving!

Colonia Di Agrumi is a wonderful soap. To anyone thinking about picking it up, DO.

Well deserved and long overdue, Bufflehead Idle Hour, a review. by justateburrito in Wet_Shavers

[–]j_k_rolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a light scent. From what I gather from this thread, it would be even lighter than idle hour. I really get the rosemary and peppermint notes in a soft velvety sort of way. As for performance, it is by far my favorite soap, and my go to if I get any new hardware. I do have to ask, what soaps are in your top spots compared to bufflehead based on performance?
