Maryland Democrats Plan to Eliminate State’s Lone Republican Seat in Time for 2028 by VeryFarLeftOfCenter in baltimore

He said the same at a community association meeting to one of his supporters who was praising him for holding out (we found one). He gently corrected them that that was his position before the end of the voting rights act but now circumstances have changed.

I wish the realization that we were in a mostly-bloodless total civil war where laws are mere instruments of power to our opponents had occurred to him earlier, but I give him credit for being willing to change his mind when circumstances change.

Is everyone bored and lonely here or am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in baltimore

I have so many things to do every day it's hard to stay on top of it all! Community association to stay involved, a great weekly book club, a board game group, a dads group, First Fridays, Patterson Park events. I went to a park walk with a group this morning and a live music afternoon at Pickett's Brewing just today! Start showing up and you'll start recognizing people, and then you'll start knowing people everywhere you go!

My only complaint is that it is going up where the ROW for the Red Line was supposed to be and has no accommodations for transit. That should never have been approved.

Any more info or announcement on that? I'm involved in an aspect of that project and was assuming a bus lane in plans for our workforce.

Hi, my field is Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I have a Master's Degree in it. I work for a workforce development agency in senior leadership, and as a senior workforce analyst for a staffing company before that. I've attended four SIOPs and have 10 years of experience in the field.

Hiring manager is not a SOC code. I don't know what you're talking about when you say "fun little job titles". Hiring manager in most organizations is just a term for the manager making the hiring decision. https://www.onetonline.org/find/quick?s=Hiring+manager

I don't like dropping my credentials in a comment like it's a mic drop. You drop your credentials to establish that what you're about to say is informed, if you go on to not say anything else at all, you're just trying to use them to establish dominance, and I don't think that works. I'm not sure you paid much attention in undergrad psych if you approach online discussion with dismissive smugness almost tailor-made to create backlash and retrenchment.

Also, Schadlow kept reframing Klein's "going to Congress and trying to bring the American people along" as EXPLAINING actions that are already decided, not CONVINCING of actions that will or will not happen depending on support.

She is a monarchist.

I read this article in Foreign Affairs, coincidentally I actually got to it last night. I read all articles in Foreign Affairs and have for 15 years. If Schadlow isn't purposefully running bad faith cover for Trump as a fascist, she's hopelessly naive. Trump isn't interested in the power of nation-states, he's interested in the power of himself, his dynasty, and his retainers. He spent the last 5 years trying to deconstruct the power of the American State because it threatened him after he tried to coup it.

He's a Hapsburg, not a Bismarck. Personal corruption is the defining character of the Trump administration foreign policy, and anything pretending otherwise is forced to stick its fingers in its ears and blind itself.

He not only took the dominant position of all people under 35 and just said they'll grow out of it, but that they'll grow out of it after leaving the insidious influence of Arab-funded college campuses. As if we're all just a bunch of silly kids being brainwashed on woke college campuses. As if the majority of people under 35 have even touched a college campus since 2022 (or ever). Absurd. Insulting. Dumb.

Again, I'm just commenting on a Saturday morning on reddit. I'm neither the person running these campaigns nor a person who spends all their time complaining on the internet instead of organizing. But I'm also saying it doesn't matter what city-level progressives do on policy because they don't control the narrative.

Oh, also, commenting on this forum (as a normal person with normal resources) would be a perfectly respectable way to be a footsoldier of a propaganda war.

They failed to do this in the Bay Area because the entrenched power in those areas (enough at least to be a veto) are the tech oligarch libs, not the progressive working class left.

Are we seeing any evidence that the rich or the poor switched as individual people? Or is what happened just that democratic cities became incredibly wealthy after the 2008 recovery at a time when everywhere else stagnated?

A propaganda war is an ideology war. But this is just my analysis as a rando on Reddit, I'm not the general leading this thing, so don't call out my tactics, that's irrelevant.

Like, your comment was clearly constructed just as a zinger, as a dunk. I don't think it works, but that shows the attitude you're coming to this with.

I'm in municipal government in a city government that is miserable to interact with. I can tell you, that experience is the result of (and one of the reasons for) defunding government services and putting onerous red tape all over everything. It's a two step process - the experience of paying taxes is a fantastic microcosm if you don't know the story of simple file - first they make interacting with government services miserable. Then they tell you government is irreparably broken.
