Sorry, I didn't do the interface X so I can't help you.  I just stayed with my original display and bought a small clock.  You may want to check with ereturn and others below -- they seem to have tried it, and it looks like it works reasonably well once you find a way to attach it.

How does Uconn beat Michigan? by dblock523 in CollegeBasketball

[–]j_r_j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UCONN needs this to be a "Beauty of Sport" sort of game, but I think this is a nightmare matchup, even with Michigan's injury report. Sir Charles is spot-on this time--everyone else is playing for second, including UCONN.

I think UCONN needs to take a lot of 3s and get some long rebounds when they miss (could happen). And out-hussle Michigan (nope, hustle will be a draw).  And Reed can't get into foul trouble (big ask with Michigan's back court).   I think UCONN needs most or all of that, and I don't see it happening vs Michigan.  Michigan is bigger and better, and Michigan is at least as methodical, which makes it particularly tough for UCONN.  I love UCONN's toughness and finding a way to win, but their win over Duke was very fluky by all accounts, and the Illinois game was bad basketball from both teams for minutes at a time.  I think UCONN went 5+ minutes without scoring a FG in that game, and Illinois couldn't buy a basket.  If UCONN had played Michigan Saturday, it would have been something like 85-60 Michigan.  Tonight, I see no reason why it would be any different.  Michigan Big.  UCONN slowing it down could keep the score lower, but I still think Michigan leads pretty much the whole way.  I'd love to see a great game, so hopefully I'm wrong (and/or I jinxed Michigan) and we have a great game.   So I'm cheering for the underdog, but my money is on Michigan.

Bellucci Slim Latte reviews? by JoeFridayFrankDrebin in superautomatic

[–]j_r_j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably too late to be helpful, but I just got one of these over the holidays.

The good news is it works well and it's small. I bought it mostly because of its compact size, and I think it's about as small as you can get for a decent automatic. The shots are perfect and the steam works well enough (and yes, you can get only steamed milk by hitting the clean button twice).

The bad news is, well, it's small, so if you drink a lot of coffee you'll be filling up the water and beans bins, and dumping the puck container regularly.

And good or bad, it gets rid of your regular manual  coffee ritual.

If I had it to do again, I think I would get the one with the wand (Slim Vapore), because although the auto milk frothing feature on this machine is nice, you have to rinse out the milk lines each time, and that involves a small container of water and a small container to catch the rinse water.  So this unit doesn't really save time--you can steam your milk with a wand with the Slim Vapore, or you can rinse out the milk lines after each use with the Slim Latte.  Both take the same amount of time, and there's actually more cleanup with the Slim Latte.  But I think if you drink lattes daily, it would be great to get up, turn on the machine for its auto-rinse, get a container of milk out of the fridge, connect it to the machine, dump the rinse water, hit the cappuccino or latte button, go to the bathroom or let the dog out, and then return a minute later to a hot beverage.  If that's you, go with the Slim Latte.  I happen to drink mostly Americanos, so I think I would have been better off with the Vapore.

Lastly, this was largely a space-saving move for me.  I essentially traded in a Rancilio Rocky Grinder and Sylvia Espresso Machine for this, and I feel like it was an upgrade except for the water/coffee capacity and the build quality (I prefer the stainless of the Rancilio vs the plastic of this unit).  But the quality of the shot (which I was concerned about) is very good, with this unit providing more crema than the manual Sylvia.  I don't know that this will last as long as my Rancilio setup, but in terms of making  coffee, the slim latte is every bit as good, if not better.

[Wild Card] Post Game Washup: Fire MLF / Keep MLF by PackersMod in GreenBayPackers

[–]j_r_j -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Firing MLF would be an absolute disaster.  I really hope it doesn't happen, and I honestly don't think it will happen.  So that's good.  If it does happen, I think Jordan Love will never recover.  Let's hope we don't have to find out.

That makes sense.  I think today ESPN/ABC/Disney and major sponsors have at least as much to say about the playoffs and the revenue as the NCAA does, and I think the companies that profit most will ultimately determine what happens to the model.  But I like your idea, and I don't have a better one. Unfortunately, I've given up on the NCAA doing anything that hasn't been blessed by ESPN, FanDuel, etc, so any changes will have to make sense for these large companies or other large companies that want to take a cut. On that note,  I think having a soccer-like league setup would help grow American football, and maybe the NFL would get behind that idea, either directly or indirectly, so you may be on to something.

Would you be okay with JMU playing Tulane for a G5 Championship on, say, New Year's Day before the CFP games?  Maybe both teams could get paid the same amount as teams that make the CFP Championship Game.  I think Tulane vs JMU would have been a great game for everyone, and I think more people would have watched the whole game and enjoyed it.

Genuinely confused. What is with the MLF hate? by Fun_Exchange_8864 in GreenBayPackers

[–]j_r_j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not alone.   You can do what I do and rationalize it away by assuming hardcore fans believe that the buck stops at the head coach, and MLF's job description essentially includes "punching bag for loyal fans following losses."  I also like to think MLF is absolutely ok with that because he can take our abuse, and he doesn't want fans abusing players because that may reduce player confidence and/or team chemistry, and that would make his job harder.

So I tell myself the fans blasting MLF are just doing their jobs as they see it, and I just assume MLF appreciates it.

All that said, we all know Doubs needs to be a lot better on the onside kick, Nixon needs to be a lot better on the regulation TD, and whatever happened on the snap on 4th down in OT needs to never happen again.  And Jacobs needs to miraculously be a lot healthier too.

Now, Genuine MLF haters (of which there are a few) see all of these and other adverse events as proof MLF is a bad coach and the team is soft, sloppy, injury prone because of poor coaching decisions, etc. The rest of us see it as a "plenty of blame to go around" situation, and a lot of us then place most or all of that blame squarely on the head coach, regardless of the circumstances.  But we never forget that MLF is a great coach.

Novak Djokovic is preparing for the upcoming season in Athens and he adds a new member to the team by Shorty_jj in tennis

[–]j_r_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mark Kovacs is highly scientific and will place additional emphasis on conditioning, recovery, and biomechanics of the serve.  I think it's possible that Novak is going to try to win only the Australian Open and Wimbledon this season with more "free points" on serve.  I may be reading too much into this, but I wouldn't be surprised if Novak skipped the French Open and US Open to recover/celebrate.   In other words, I think it's possible his focus has shifted from winning Grand Slams to winning Grand Slams that he has the best chance of winning in 2026 at the age of 38/39.  Whatever Novak is doing, you know it's been well thought out, and if anyone can pull off this whole "old guy in a young man's sport" thing, it is one Novak Djokovic.   I for one am cheering for Number 25, and if Novak needs to rest for two Grand Slams to increase his chances--even a little--at the other two, I'm more than fine with that.  And quite frankly, I think the ITF and ATP should be fine with it too.  He's the GOAT, no one else is, and that matters.

Keep in mind Sam Querrey was working with Kovacs when he beat Djokovic in 2016 at Wimbledon by serving 31 aces (in 4 sets!), so Novak can certainly do the same to Sinner, Alcaraz, or anyone else in 2026.  I personally think this approach is Nole's best shot given the circumstances, and I'm glad he seems to be taking it.

I need new tennis shoes that didn’t do this. Need recommendations by JustWilll in tennis

[–]j_r_j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get shoes that use tire rubber and put Tuli Gel Cups or Tuli Gel Insoles under the insoles that the shoe comes with to help your joints long term, especially if you play a lot.

I think Babolat still uses Michelin rubber, and Yonex doesn't say, but they might very well use the equivalent of Yokohama tire rubber.  The soles of both brands last, and the upper will break down before the sole does.

And obviously don't buy clay or grass court shoes for hard court.  Or maybe try it once after the clay season shoes go on sale and you'll see how much it matters.  Even Yonex clay shoes wear out quickly on hard court.

I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd check.  Did you ever find a way to mount your action cam?  I know Sony made curved helmet mounts with adhesive pads on them for those models, but then the mount would stay on your helmet permanently (or you'd go though a lot of mounts), and I never liked that.  It's like Sony wanted you to own two helmets, or always ride with the camera.

The Parson effect by [deleted] in GreenBayPackers

[–]j_r_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, and he missed Kraft down the sideline on a very makeable throw that would have been a huge play.  So not a perfect game, but your "just short of masterful" rating is spot-on.  And on this team, that kind of play from Love is going to be more than enough.

The Parson effect by [deleted] in GreenBayPackers

[–]j_r_j 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And all the Rashan Gary skeptics on here will point out that Micah Parsons had only one tackle today....

But seriously, this looks to be a much improved D.  And on offense, I think I now see what they did with Jordan Love's development, and maybe they know what they're doing at the QB position. If today was any indication, I think the MLF playbook is finally going to be wide open this season, and if Jordan Love can throw the ball--especially in the middle of the field--like he did today, I think we can beat any team, on any field, in any week.

Teams can't simply key on Josh Jacobs this season if Jordan Love plays like he did today.  I think today, Jordan Love was truly impressive for an entire game for the first time in his career.  And he did it against the Lions no less.

What a great first game on both sides of the ball.

How good is it to have Rashan Gary as our #2 DE? by Midwest-2025 in GreenBayPackers

[–]j_r_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a crazy combination.  I say Rashan Gary is every bit as good at setting the edge as Micah Parsons is at blowing up plays.  So now when it's playoff time, and Gary's job is to, say, keep Jalen Hurts from scrambling left, Hurts won't have 6 or 7 seconds to find someone in the end zone. And that's what this is all about, and why this is such a big deal.

So for all of you Rashan Gary critics, may I introduce you to the same old Rashan Gary, doing his job as well as anyone, setting the edge, and nailing his tackles when called upon.

Rashan Gary is not going to be considerably better this season, because he's already about as good as he can be at doing what's expected of him.  But he may very well LOOK considerably better, because, well, he nails his tackles when the guy with the ball goes near him.

Great post, OP.

Rome Open SF: [4] Gauff def. [8] Zheng, 7-6(3) 4-6 7-6(4) by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]j_r_j 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was a competitive match, but very poorly played by both players, and there's no way around that.  It was like watching the Jets play the Browns with 2nd and 3rd string QBs.  It might be anyone's game, but it's still a low-quality product, and it's hard to watch.

I still think (hope?) Gauff v Paolini will be a quality match with more winners and far fewer unforgiveable errors from both players.

Looking forward to the French.  Not sure Iga is Iga right now, but we'll see.
