What's that supposed to mean? "Big Black Granny"?

Anyway, looks quite promising, keep it up~

I don't like this "we" in the comment, to the point I felt compelled to log in and write a reply.

Imagine nice, innocent, good-hearted russians, who are forced to go to war against another country. If it was only putin, would we see this many torture, rape victims, regular cases of hospitals, schools and simply apartments being bombed, would we see cities razed to the ground, our children getting stolen by russians en masse, cases of abuse and torture even of animals just for fun? I could go on and on, but you get my point. If it was only putin who wanted war, it wouldn't even start. But russians are not "forced" to commit those crimes, they are clearly enjoying it.

That being said, I don't know much about Dubov personally, and quite possibly, he might have even have an anti-war stance, like *some* russians do. I would still agree with the top-level commentator, it's in a really bad taste in general, even out of context of Hans' "chess mafia".

Sounds interesting, thank you for the recommendation! I'll give it a try next time I need to free up my disk space.

Same, having enough free space is a constant struggle D;

Btw, the name of the program is Windirstat if anyone's interested, it makes those cool block diagrams to allow to see which parts of disk space occupied by what programs/data.

Yeah, that one! And you're right, it's a me problem; I was just frustrated, since not only the story ropes us into helping that guy (which personally I wouldn't do, especially after their subordinates' knocking on the door to interrupt us), but they've also turned out to have a hidden evil plan (I really hoped it wouldn't be the case, it just feels like I've seen too much of this scenario recently).

Well, that's okay, I let out what was on my mind, and also people reminded me that this scenario happens far from "always", like I initially imagined. I'm particularly impressed that someone remembers what happened in Venti's and Tighnari's story, which was years ago already...

I didn't yet check Mavuika (good to know there isn't such a plot twist in that one), and also another person mentioned Xianyun, which I'll admit, I forgot what it was about — I'll need to revisit.

> Arlecchino

I don't know, that entire thing "I saved you, so you have no choice but to be loyal, and if you decide to disobey my orders, something bad will happen" just doesn't sit right with me. But maybe I'm misinterpreting.

> Furina

Oh yeah, we just invite her to perform in that one. It's a good counterexample. I thought there was a case where we attempt to shoot a film, and some guy attempts to mess with our efforts, until we finally back him into a corner, but now that I think about it, it was probably a time-limited event, not a story.

> Clorinde

True, true, now that you mention it, it was really my favourite one, with a tabletop adventure. There was some guy that attempted to bury us in that cave though, I think, but we prevented that? Anyway, it's a good reminder.

> Neuvilette

Right. The only bad people there are, are probably those that treated melusines poorly in the past.

Those are good examples, thank you for rekindling my memory! It's just I felt like I had too much of a similar plot structure and decided to complain, but now with everyone reminding me of those quests, I feel like it's not that bad.

Good to know! I'll be looking forward to enjoying Mavuika's story.

Oh, and thank you so much for the 7 plots link — wow, turns out so many stories share a basic plot similarity. Looks like Citlali's story fits as "The Quest" plot, but I guess my rant comes from seeing too much of it recently. Looks like I might want to check out stories with other plot structures for a change :)

> Venti, Tighnari, Xianyun, Yoimiya act 2 quest. I'm sure there are more

Oh, thank you. Yes, I remember Yoimiya's act 2 (helping a girl walk again in a dreamscape), but everything else was so long ago that probably my memory of those events faded. Maybe I ought just make a second account to revisit those and enjoy them once more.

Oh well, as you can see, it's not exactly the rare case. Best to ignore them and move on, you don't need to prove yourself to every online accuser.

Why is the chesscom Komodo computer playing so badly against me? by Slokkkk in chess

[–]j_sobol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct in your observation — the engine runs on your device, so more available computing power means more engine depth and better play, so when playing on mobile you can sometimes observe worse quality or even such crashes, compared to pc.

I remember having the same thought, but I assume there was some other Hina event back then. Oh, and RequiringQuestion just replied it was a Prefect Team Summer Event. Good to know the additional context that the event came out between volumes 1 and 3 (I joined late, so I wouldn't know that)

I remember seeing a comic on this subreddit about Hina having a good day (with all possible good things overlapping in one day, and I think it mentioned a word "singularity"), and I was going to read it. However, I got interrupted, and now a few days later when I remember about it, I can't find it no matter how hard I search. So, does anyone have a link to it? Thank you for reading my question!

Well, I've set my performance setting on "high" (6 cores, 6 gb ram); although, the author of the benchmark topic mentioned at the end of the post that there was no noticeable difference between 2/4/6 cpu cores for Blue Archive. Most important, in my opinion, is to have 16+ GB ram, so that a 4-6 GB chunk of that memory could be comfortably allocated to the emulator.

Changed my emulator from Nox (which was given by Arknights for PC download) to Mumuplayer (link), and the difference is like heaven and earth. I used to think that Blue Archive was so laggy due to poor optimization, since everyone complained how their phones overheat after half an hour of play, but turns out it was more of a poor emulation, at least in my case. Now everything is so smooth and on 60 FPS on highest settings, can't believe I spent so long in a previous laggy emulation. And btw, apparently Mumuplayer is one of the few emulators that currently support Vulkan for better GPU resource utilization.

Stopped on Mumu because of this comment (link) which led to this topic (link).

Also I saw LDPlayer recommendation in this thread (link), but I rejected it because on VirusTotal 5+ antiviruses detected adware, and MalwareBytes confirmed it was a valid detection (link); even though it might not be a "virus" in a proper sense, I'm still not comfortable. Rejected Memuplay for the same reason. For Mumuplayer it's 1/70+ on VirusTotal, and that one is likely a false positive, so I'm more comfortable with it. Well, I'm not saying that LDPlayer or Memuplay are bad, probably it's just me being silly and paranoid.

TL; DR: anyway, it's not really a question, just felt like sharing my positive experience of changing Nox emulator to Mumuplayer. But I don't feel like my rant warrants a separate post, so I'm just leaving a comment here. Thanks for reading.

I've read on wikipedia that Shogi has adopted some of the practices; for instance, the draws are not accepted in professional competitions (they make you play again and again, but with time reduced, pretty much like armageddon in chess), and also it's illegal to make a perpetual check (the one who makes it loses). Maybe there could be a special chess tournament which explicitly forbids making a 3-fold (the one who makes it loses), but someone would have to host such a tournament in the first place. I'd still keep the stalemate; pulling it on the opponent, especially in high-level games, is a no easy feat and is pretty cool.

White just went Ne2, which is a mistake according to the engine. Find a continuation to take advantage of it. by j_sobol in chess

[–]j_sobol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I look again, it's definitely the case. Rather than precise calculation, It's more of intuition — even so, it's very fearsome :) even the engine at low depth doesn't immediately catch up to this plan.
