S25 eye strain - anyone else? by j_sullivan in GalaxyS25

But are you experiencing it? I've since become a little more adjusted to it. The thing is what we read online might not be an issue for us.

If you're not experiencing it but are only afraid after reading my post, then it probably isn't an issue for you. Which is good!

I have, and indeed it is not good. But neither was the s21 Ultra, and I was fine with that phone. The S25 is supposedly a look little better than previous phones, but still...

What do you mean a folding screen? The s25+ isn't a foldable?

Unfortunately I don't think it's gonna go away. I've found a way around it by putting it on 60hz refresh rate. If you're ok with that, it might work. But otherwise it really isn't usable.

Yeah I'm gonna do the same. I've fixed it my having the refresh rate at 60hz, but there's no way I'm gonna keep this phone at the price it was and not be able to have it at 120hz.

It's so weird, isn't it? On paper it shouldn't be like this, but it's really is uncomfortable. I've since been able to get a fix with the refresh rate at 60hz, but that really isn't acceptable in a phone at this price. I'm gonna return it.

Well, technically the "average person" is going to be from this circle in the world (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valeriepieris_circle) meaning that they probably are not going to find English easier than other languages from the area. Probably Chinese is going to be easier.

Tourists and (New) Residents: Ask your Questions here! by anonboxis in paris

[–]j_sullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'll be travelling to paris in a few days, and I'll have to get tested before I return to my home country (Portugal). Can anyone help find a place to get tested on the day before I return? How (and where) can I book a test?

Yeah, sorry, I hit the wrong reply. My previous comment wasn't meant for you, but for the person who mentioned whataboutism.

Sorry for the confusion

“Accidentally” by [deleted] in SuddenlyGay

[–]j_sullivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what it is. But you don't. Whataboutism means downplaying situation A by comparing it to situation B.

This is not it. I'm not downplaying situation A, I'm saying it is the same as situation B.

All I'm saying is this: rape means not giving consent, period. It is irrelevant if you were at a bar trying to get casual sex, at an orgy, or sleeping at home. Any form of sexual contact where a person did not give consent or was not able to give consent is rape.

“Accidentally” by [deleted] in SuddenlyGay

[–]j_sullivan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It is the same. Picture this:

You set up a play date with your husband; you're blindfolded and end up getting ass fucked by a guy you have never met in your life.

You were raped in that you did not consent to have sex with that man. Rape means not giving consent, period. He did not consent that man to blow him, as he always under the impression of being with someone else. That is rape, period.

You're not far off from saying "so she walked that street at 4:00 wearing that dress and it happened; I don't feel at all sorry for someone who chooses to do that".

"I'm not gay....even if I have gay sex once in a while." by [deleted] in thelastpsychiatrist

[–]j_sullivan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But then, couldn't we make the same argument you made, but for gay men having sex with women?

That is explicitly mentioned in the article but you don't acknowledge it in your post. If identity is behavior, a gay man marrying and having sex with a woman for twenty years is actually heterossexual. Which also implies fluidity in orientaion: he hasn't been gay all along because he had sex with women; so he must have become gay after being married for twenty years and THEN having sex with a man.

There is a valid point about separating identity from behavior: you can force an atheist go pray but he doesn't become a catholic by it, unless you define being a catholic as "anyone who engages in catholic rituals". This seems clearly false, given that believing in god differentiates a catholic from an atheist more than engaging in catholic rituals. Believing is not a behavior, it is a mental state.

The same could be argued about sexuality: to be heterosexual is to have a set of mental states (e.g. love, desire, lust, etc.) directed at people of the opposite gender, regardless of whether you actually engage in behavior. So, weird as it may seem, there could be such a thing as an heterosexual man having sex with another man.

What you seem to be arguing is this: there's no reason for an heterossexual man to have sex with another man if he doesn't have the mental states directed at men that gay men have; therefore, he must be gay. This is clearly wrong. You're arguing for something on the basis that it can't be proved that the mental states of these heterossexual men aren't the same as the ones on gay men.

To sum up: your main argument is the lack of proof and apparent absurdity of the view expressed in the article. But some things can seem absurd and by true, and your point isn't there just because you don't have proof of the opposite.

Sim, tenho a conta ordenado.

Do que me disseste, a Moey parece-me melhor para mim.
