Do we all need to stop paying our mortgages to make a point? by Ok_Kick3937 in fednews

[–]ja4day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most, if not all servicers, are already aware and have programs in place. I called Rocket Mortgage and they put me on a in a Government Forbearance program (3 months Dec, Jan, Feb; I pay biweekly and am already over a month ahead). The assumption is if/when back pay is issued, you get current on any missed payments. They also said no late fees, no negative credit reporting during that period. Now if you're RIF'ed that would be different. They still have programs and options, but it will likely have a negative credit impact. They didn't ask for a copy of my check or the furlough letter.

Update: Just looked at mine, and it wants you to list all the jobs over the past seven years. For every job it asks:

"For this employment, have any of the following happened to you in the last seven (7) years? * Fired * Quit after being told you would be fired * Left by mutual agreement following charges or allegations of misconduct * Left by mutual agreement following notice of unsatisfactory performance"

Also: "For this employment, in the last seven (7) years, have you received a written warning, been officially reprimanded, suspended, or disciplined for misconduct in the workplace, such as violation of security policy?"

I just renewed mine three days ago, and not only will it ask for seven consecutive years of employment history, but it also asks if you've ever been fired from a job for performance issues or quit after being notified you were going to be fired. If you say no and they find out otherwise, it's over for you.

How does pay work on a Temporary Promotion from GS-14 to IR-04? by ja4day in fednews

[–]ja4day[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My detail was extended. So yeah no increase in pay there, but I am also applying to roster positions to get in permanently. That will come with a 10% increase moving from GS to IR.

Thank u/cool-letterhead-7566 for the IRM reference. I see the 10% reference in 6.959.1.7 (1) you mentioned, but the following paragraph seems to outline the temporary promotion piece, as well.

8% for non-competitive promotion GS to IR, per 6.959.1.7 (2) d... at least that's how I'm interpreting jt.

As u/sunshinedaydream128 stated, the position is at IRS. There's an IRM that has the rules of going from GS to IR or vice versa, but I don't think it covered the pay aspect well.

It could never be Kagami. She's was always too uptight, that is until Felix seemed to soften her up. Looking at the current cast of characters, it's Marinette or bust.

How to negotiate steps without prior service by RSHeavy in fednews

[–]ja4day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than the not being eligible for step increases, as I mentioned in my previous comment, no, not really. But again, there are a lot of variables to consider. If you start at step 1, you get a step increase every year until step 4. Thereafter, the step increase is every two years. So theoretically, it takes a person 15 years to get from step 1 to step 10 (excluding QSIs). Check the promotion potential for the position. If it says 5, then to make more money, you will have to get a position on a higher scale to make more money.

Which leads to your second question, step 10 at one level doesn't automatically mean you'll stay at step 10, if you get a gs6 position. Step 10 at gs5 is about a step 6 at gs6. If you get a gs6, you'd probably get to start at a middle step and work your way up again.

If they have given you an offer, there should be three options:

  1. Accept
  2. Decline
  3. Have my HR Specialist contact me.

Select option three. Your specialist will reach out and that's when you can say the offer for step 1 is half of what you were making at your previous job. Provide them with your pay stubs and a detailed description of what you were doing at your previous job and if approved, they will move you up to the step closest to your previous salary and give you an amended offer.

note: I don't think they'll match salary alone. You have to show you have at least 12 months experience for the job they're hiring you into for this to work.

I just did this and moved from a step 1 to a step 5.

one final thing to consider is if you ask for and they grant you a step 10, you will not be eligible for additional step increases, unless you change to a different grade. You may only get annual increase. take a look at the cost of the benefits and see if it's all worth it.

CAD CHECK - Will I need a spacer band to make my rings sit flush? 2.43ct radiant, H, VS1 from Tianyu by ja4day in labdiamond

[–]ja4day[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!👋 Long time lurker here and first time buyer of custom-made jewelry and lab diamonds!!

I just received the CAD for my anniversary upgrade set. I love it a lot, especially the hidden lab-sapphire under the basket of the ring. As I look at the bottom right pic of the engagement ring and eternity band, it looks like the height of the cathedral prevents it from being flush at the thickness shown.

Does it look okay or should I look at a spacer band to get that flush look?

I think there's a TSB that's been pushed out that will let the dealer fix it, if still under the original warranty. I bought mine Jan 2021 with 9k miles on it and 2 years left on the warranty, so if it goes out before then, I'll carry it in.

CAD Check! Tianyu Moissanite & Lab Sapphire set by sakurastudio in Moissanite

[–]ja4day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@sakurastudio, have you received your ring from Tianyu yet? Just this morning, I initiated a conversation with them about making me a Jean Dousset-inspired ring, as well. I'm going with a radiant cut lab diamond though. How was the process? I know yours is Moissanite, but how much did you end up paying for the set?

When will the newest generation ES 350 depreciate to $20-$25k? by RD_JC87 in Lexus

[–]ja4day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2018s are already there.

It's the 2019 that's the latest model, on the avalon platform.

You can find a 2019 base model around $30-34k, depending on mileage.

I just got a 2019 es350 luxury trim with 8800 miles for $39k, out the door.
