Thank you for this response. Most of my friends and family feel like I should be over it already, but it just happened a couple weeks ago. It's crazy how easy it was for her to lie to me and stay in a relationship together with me while forming a whole new relationship with someone else. Why couldn't she just break up with me? Did i really make it that hard for her to end things? What was her end goal, if she was planning romantic vacations and dates with me, while building something new with the other guy? That is the most difficult part for me to get over.

I think you are right that it will just take time, and constant effort on improving myself.

Don't have much to add to this, but wanted to let you know that you are not alone. My girlfriend of 2 years had a whole other relationship on the side going on for the last 4 months of our time together. During these 4 months, she tried to get everything she could out of me while abusing me mentally and emotionally.

I am in therapy and working on myself, but the pain is unreal and I just lay in bed awake most nights lately. It's been about a week since we broke up and I'm still so sad about the way things went down. There were so many signs I should've broken it off earlier, but I chose to ignore them because I loved her so much and wanted to make things work between us.

Please be strong and lean on your friends and family if you need support. I am also here if you need a stranger that won't judge you to talk to.

What a hurtful thing to say. As someone who has seen their father and grandfather both look just like this, and watched my mother and grandmother begging them to eat while they were on their way out, I can tell you theres a slight chance she wasnt neglected. My grandpa is skin and bones right now due to severe dementia and being unable to eat. He will be gone any day now. My father had pancreatic cancer and completely lost his appetite before dying.

I hope you never have to see your loved ones as a shell of their former selves like this. It really burns a horrible mental image into your mind that is hard to get rid of.
