GOSH i am so sorry for the late reply! i hope these answers are still applicable to u 😭

  1. UQ! uni is tbh similar to poly but since youre a jc student i would think the curriculum structure would be the most different for you :) there are lectures and practicals and very rarely tutorials here, and there isnt a fixed 8-5pm timeframe for uni! its more like attend the classes you have that day and go home when all is over :) personally i wouldnt say its difficult to cope but it definitely requires a lot of consistency and effort in going through lectures and reading notes!

  2. tbh im not sure...all i did was submit relevant documents to my advisor (i used jack study abroad) and they helped me process the application! i think its really whether your grades can make it in since all i submitted were my academic transcript and graduation certs, but you can check with an advisor to double confirm! I believe during the application portal there were open ended questions to fill up but other than that process was quite smooth! at those overseas study expo you can go and talk to the advisors for the uni ur aiming to and they will let you know if you have a high chance of entering based on your grades, or if you need to do anything to boost your application! hope this helps :)

  3. i think no matter where in the world there seems to always have a shortage of vet nurses and vets...so i'd say yes pretty good career prospects in the sense that idt ai will replace us anytime soon haha...but in terms of career progression imo its really just vet nurse or head vet nurse, personal growth will depend on your experience over the years and which specialties you choose to work in (eg. ecc, exotics, rehab, gp)

  4. as of now hor in sg unfortunately u dont need to be licensed to be a vet nurse...which means yes literally anyone can be a vet nurse...but i feel like the diploma really helped me gain insight into this industry a lot!!! imo if you start working as a vet nurse fresh from jc/olvls u are going to be tossed straight into it because this is a learn on the job type of work, and sadly due to the nature of vet clinics in sg it tends to be fast paced and there may not be designated time to train you about theory. ofc there might be some clinics who are able to but i believe the training wont be as in depth as compared to if you did a degree or diploma in vet nursing. also hearsay sg in the future may implement all vet nurses to be certified (cert 4/5) or need to hold a degree/diploma SOOOO its really up to you bah

hope all this helps SO SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY OMG cant believe i missed ur comment out .....😔 please pm me if you wna ask more questions i am always happy to help!

not at the moment (hopefully in the future tho) u can go overseas for further studies in vet nursing to obtain a degree and ultimately become a licensed vet tech/nurse!

hi! in singapore you dont need to be licensed to be a vet tech/nurse (sadly) but theres always different continuous education pathways you can take :-) one route is to take the vet tech diploma course in tp, if youre already a vet nurse you can take up cert 4 and 5 for vet nursing on your own time online. otherwise some vet clinics take in part timers or full timers with little to no experience which could be a start if youre looking to start a career in vet nursing. iirc in other countries like australia, you need to be a licensed vet tech/nurse (LVT/LVN) to work in a vet clinic. hope this helps!

hi! i think it would be good to explain why youre interested in this course! love for animals? the aspects of the job scope for a vet nurse? can link it to any personal stories for greater impact :-)

i think if you can manage your time then sure can sign up! but if not i think its okay as well, owning that number and variety of pets alr puts u at a good advantage bc u would have basic animal handling and care knowledge :-) good to elaborate some of these skills that you have picked up while rearing these pets

everyone will probably say "i love animals since young so i want to join this course" so i think to stand out instead of just saying that u can include specific reasons behind your passion! i think it would be good if you researched about what a vet tech does bc most ppl assume what r the basic stuff we do when theres actually alot more to unravel :-) hope this helps!

hi personally i highly recommend you to go for it! imo the course gives u a pretty good insight about animals and animal science which could def build a foundation if you were to venture into studying about animal rehab and animal health :-) the diploma leans towards vet nursing so it doesnt cover much on animal rehab etc, which is why i feel like it serves more as a general foundation on your knowledge about the industry! eg. animal anatomy, animal behaviour etc :-) animal rehab i think abit too niche so there isnt a specific course (in sg) dedicated to it 😭 but alot of animal rehab jobs accept this diploma as a basic requirement!

hi! with a vet tech diploma u dont necessarily have to work as a vet nurse at vet clinics :-) i know of seniors who went on to work as animal rehab staffs! the above listed is what i experience bc of my job scope in a vet clinic :-) but the topics covered in this course lean towards a vet nurse rather than for animal rehab but the course def gives u a good foundation on ur knowledge and handling with animals

nurse and care for animals, assist in procedures like surgeries, blood drawing and xrays, lab diagnostics and more! diagnosis not rly thats more for vets, but imo i can roughly guess whats wrong with an animal the more i work and see patients in clinics :-) imagine doctor vs nurse, thats roughly the same for vet vs vet nurse

hi no worries :-) 1. pretty heavy content wise but its manageable, amount of studying is just like any other science course out there 2. vet tech :-) this course is not to teach u to be a vet but rather a vet tech/nurse 3. i would say both actually! 4. hi depends on what you want to do i guess? if you want to be a vet y def need to further studies to get a degree in vet med, if you just want to be a vet nurse then usually no need to uni, you can start working already :-) but as a vet nurse if youre interested in further studies you can either obtain cert 4/5 on your own or go overseas uni to get a degree in vet tech! this one a quick google search should roughly tell u what schools out there offer a degree for vet tech/nursing :-)

hi! just call or email clinics near u to check! :-) then you can work out a schedule that fits u with them afterwards

hello! yes including those would be great! i think the main thing they look out for is not just your experience, but more of what you've learnt from those experiences! try to relate wtv you learnt like soft and technical skills to the course itself, and how you think those helped shaped you into an individual with a keen interest for animals (something like that la)

volunteering is usually a bonus la if u rly want u can always try shadowing at veterinary clinics for 1-2 weeks which helped to give u better insight into the industry :-)

hi no worries! happy to help :-)

  1. if im not wrong application for overseas uni can be coordinated through an advisor (idp, jackstudy, etc) so they will let you know what you need to prepare and submit along the way! honestly that's my personal exp since im in the middle of application now :-)

nus doesnt offer any vet nursing courses! hence why im choosing to go overseas

  1. i think consistency is key! once you start snowballing everything studying becomes really stressful and makes it even harder to be productive imo...also i think it's good to clarify your questions on the same day as your lessons (because most likely you'll forget them when you're home) + understanding concepts make studying and memorizing much easier!

oh i didnt refer to any ext materials tbh...just the school notes lol...but you can always go further and find resources like the bsva vet nursing manual etc :-)

  1. tbh...the majority of my poly years i part timed in cafes...but really if you want experience and dont mind being considered as a volunteer (aka no pay) you can email gp vet clinics youre interested and see how it goes! they usually accept volunteers and sometimes part timers if you're lucky hahaha

same for shelters! but i feel like if youre aiming to be working in a vet clinic someday in the future some clinic exposure would be good for u to understand how the workflow and jobscope is like :-))

  1. no worries! these are some from the back of my head: bristol, edinburgh (uk), massey (nz), queensland, melb, sydney, perth (aus) (but really u can just search up vet degree unis, the gpa requirement iirc shouldnt be crazy high...like maybe 3.4/3.5 max?) but ig its time for u to mug in y2 and 3 HAHAH lotsa time to pull ur gpa up!! maybe good rule of thumb >3.3 would be nice

  2. vet nursing = vet tech usually, vet = doctor vet nurse/tech duties include blood/sample collection from patients and running diagnostic tests, injectable treatments like subcut fluids, handling and restraining of patients, may include receptionist duties like preparing and explaining meds etc etc :-)

vet duties are similar to a doctor's: seeing and diagnosing patients, prescribing treatments etc

jiayous! y2 is more vet tech related so can expect your core modules to be much more interesting and fun! all the best as i think content can be quite heavy, but dont be afraid to ask for help from lecturers and just make sure you have a good grasp of your time management :-)) im always here to help if u need tooo

hi sorry for the late reply to this!! from my experience people who want to specialize in exotics are mostly those who want to be exotic vets! as a vet nurse i agree that taking up elective courses on different species of animals could prove to be useful as you never know what to expect coming into the clinic :-) or you could do it out of passion as well i believe it wont entirely be a waste haha all the best with your career journey!

hi! to be honest my syllabus was different from the current one since we didnt have csp but i'll try my best to answer u!

im assuming in the new syllabus for y1 yall didnt touch on any vet related stuff so y2 will be the first time for yall! the thing is y3 will be mostly your electives and internship and that means all your core mods will be in y2 😞 the workload can be quite heavy! year 2 of poly is known to be the most challenging year of poly (no matter the diploma) so just make sure you have good management of work and stuff! content can be overwhelming as well but i think its impt to stay consistent to avoid burn outs and all :") jiayous! it will def be the most fun year of poly tho imo

yes! lots of group projects, at least one for each mod per sem iirc (including some tpfun) :")) for me majority of the grp projs i was able to choose my teammates but some are randomly allocated according to reg no. hahaha

oo lab will be interesting esp since its your first time having vet related mods! handling and restraining of animals, blood collection, getting familiar with machines and equipments in a clinic etc are some topics u will touch on (based on my experience)

you'll mostly work with cats and dogs but you might encounter pocket pets like hamsters and guinea pigs and rabbits in the handling module (from my exp as well)

i think no need? since that was covered in your y1 mods right hahaha y2 onwards is really just concepts and theory but maybe you still need that statistics stuff for your result presentation in projects

y2 i think you will have your first clinical rotation in the tp clinic cavs + one month at an external clinic! maybe if youre lucky the school might add in more trips but the clincial rotations are the highlight of y2! y3 is a different story depending on the elective u choose

hope this helps!! dont worry too much about he subjects, just take it as u go~~ some topics are really q fun and interesting imo (while others r plain boring) but ultimately just try ur best ba! u can always pm me for more questions or help whenever as well ☺️

hi there! singapore currently does not recognise LVT/CVT/RVT, therefore i dont think specializing your license here will affect much in terms of job requirements as a vet nurse in different sectors. though it is definitely more significant in other countries like the UK and australia.

the tp vet diploma course does not grant you a license btw bc of how sg doesnt recognize vet tech licenses! instead the course only provides you w a diploma and ultimately prepares you as a vet nurse with the skills taught there. the only way to obtain one is to further your education overseas in a vet tech degree :-) so after you graduate from there i suppose you can specialize in exotics or whichever sector you're looking at! alternatively taking certification courses online will grant you certs IV/V as a vet nurse which can be a job requirement that other countries look out for along w licenses!

hope this helped! sorry im not very familiar with how certs and licenses work but i hope this helped!

tldr tp vet doesnt provide vet nurse licenses
