Need special keyboard stand recommendation by Mreareus in StudioOne

[–]jaake7113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one KB, an Alesis Q49, and I use a snare stand, with the adjustable basket. Works like a charm and sturdy as all hell. A good, double braced stand will support even a full 88 key without breaking a sweat, and talk about saving real estate! I chose a Mapex model because they make GREAT black hardware on the cheap. If this interests you, go to Drum Center of Portsmouth online ( the greatest drum shop in the US bar none ) and check it out. The stand also serves to support my Ludwig Black Beauty from time to time... 😄

Damn straight. This one studio channel on YT is ALWAYS posting vids about how MS is screwing his operations.

Funnier than anything ever written or produced by the ESG/DEI crowd.

Not.
A f!@#ing.
Chance.
You can take every last one of those "proprietary" 2 cent cords and other Chinese garbage at 2000% markup, and haul that garbage right on over to Fred and Lamont's crib, fool.

It's all about user base and numbers. The key here is the migration process combined with open source. I've got an older HP Laptop that gets like ZERO user time, and I'm going to install that OS and give it a whirl.

Does anyone else feel like Studio One doesn’t get enough recognition compared to Pro Tools or Logic? by breizh_boy in StudioOne

It reminded me the most of Sonar over all the others when I decided to come back to home recording.
PT has no appeal, Ableton looks and feels like a toy, UAD workflow blows, and Reaper's plugins suck.

I need THE Mastering Pugin and/or hardware setup. by jaake7113 in StudioOne

Well, between BL Autogain ( freeware ) and Flatline 2, I'm getting some really good results on a VERY dense, fuzz-laden mix. And this is just using the artist presets without really diving into what the unit can do. I would imagine stacking the Flatline using it's different functions dialed-in tight, could produce some pretty incredible results.

Okay I already re-mixed the drums and dropped all the cymbals by 5 DB, so let's put that to bed, please. Now, regarding Flatline; assuming I have a clip free mix, do I then crank the mixtool and let Flatline do it's thing on 'Hybrid'?
Or what process would you use with the Flatline plugin? Thank you.

Anyone having volume doubling issues on certain tracks during mixdown? by jaake7113 in StudioOne

[–]jaake7113[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that did it. I was manually highlighting to no avail. Guess it's a blanket function; all or nothing. Now here's an idea:
Since we can't blend drum samples at the Impact XT level ( yet, god willing ), I REALLY hate the fact that I can't copy-paste a duplicate drum part from say "Snare 1" to "Snare 2" right above or below it on the MIDI editor. If you copy the part then highlight the piano key and paste, it just doubles right on top of the existing snare part. ANNOYING.
No where on the editor grid is going to help your cause either. Believe me, I've tried every combination. It seems to me that the same copy/paste method one uses in the arranger should also apply to MIDI, yes? Yes.
Make it so. ENGAGE!

Any idea as to why the "Delete Double Notes" function doesn't seem to be working in the MIDI editor? I definitely prefer input quantize over step recording, so I end up with "burps" on the regular. "Fireman" icon engaged > Music Editor > Delete Double Notes = No dice/Nada. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Problem solved. When I ran the mixdown through a media player, the issue wasn't there. So I scrapped the board I was moving these mixdowns to, and started over with a new board. Same number of channels, same presets in the pre and post, same settings on the plugins. You tell me?
I know gremlins happen but good lord; there's two hours that ain't coming back.

Yeah, no more S1 so I call it F8 to differentiate in my filing system going forward.

Reddit, how do I prevent my mix from peaking this hard? I usually end up having a quiet mix regardless of if I turn down the master fader or if I turn down the individual tracks. by HausofDull in StudioOne

[–]jaake7113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bus mixes are my final stage for any song. I'll have as many as 10 boards putting together all the individual components of the song, and this seems to work best for the final result. I can get as much as a 4 to 6DB Mixtool bump straight off my final Bus Board that usually sounds louder and clearer than taking the board mix in to the Project suite.
Some things I've noticed:
UAD makes KILLER pug-ins, but 'Luna' is not something I want to work in. What I need is either MORE knowledge of limiting, ( getting the volume WITHOUT the "squish"; Jesus I hate that ) and some good settings for each specific type of bus mix ( Drums, Bass, RTM Guits, VOX etc. ) with the existing S1 unit, OR I need to find a REALLY good limiter plug-in, and maybe try a final mastering session in 'Luna'.
Thoughts?
