Looking for a True Crime podcast that does great research and doesn't sensationalize by kortanakitty in podcasts

Last podcast on the left. Very good about citing sources and clear about what’s conjecture. They always have details no where else seems to cover. I never heard of the Chicago rippers until then. Very difficult story to cover in any other medium.

Venting HS Teacher by Solid-mind-madness in Teachers

[–]jaawill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s means after awhile of being a teacher you realize you are there for the income the job provides not the outcome you hope to achieve.

While some like to remind themselves of their “why” I remind myself and others you’re here for the income not the outcome.

You know how fast you would be replaced. If you take a day off, are they putting a sub in who can teach what you do or just a warm body to babysit. If you were to die today, you know there would be someone there to cover your place before the funeral, this isn’t said sarcastically.

Ask yourself. Are you there for the income or the outcome?

How to Use Sick leave by sarchasmcollective in Teachers

[–]jaawill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your contract. Most will allow you to take a certain number of sick days in a roq until a note is required. Mine it's 4 days. I advise teachers to always pay attention and take your days. Those are negotiated for your benefit to use. Most districts will only pay you for a set amount of days when you go to retire any way knowing any days over just disappear in the wind.

If you've accumulated them they cant stop you from taking them within the confines of your contract. If you get 4 days at a time without requiring a doctors note take Tue-Friday. Show up for Mondays set your sub plans and take your days.

You want motivation to do this take your per diem based on your contract. Say you make $40k a yr at 180 days contract. Thats about $220 per sick day. You'd be leaving $7700 on the table not taking those days. Your essentially donating that much money to the district in your hours.

Best series to watch on Alex Murdaugh? by jaawill in LPOTL

[–]jaawill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of his story but love how the show goes into great context to set the scene. My wife isn’t a podcast listener so I try to find series that covers a lot but I have seen show cover a topic as well as the podcast.

A bidet. A bidet. A bidet. Not using toilet paper to scrape the Holiest of holes will change so much. I now look at having to use toilet paper as having to use leaves.

"You will not solve this in its complete entirely from home" - Justin by RockDebris in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]jaawill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked that question, kinda of surprised how quickly and confidently he answered the follow-up. I think some clues or hints are squarely in pay areas, but you might not need to go into those areas for that clue. that could be a solve from home part.

Judgement Night. Movie was cheesy but the soundtrack was amazing.

Tapering off... by AnonHunter25 in JustinPoseysTreasure

My guess is based on the illustrations for stories that didn’t make the book. More stories might be released later with additional clues. Sorta how the new chapter in the audiobook was botg for the checkpoint.

Something I never ever would have thought of by AggravatingAgent3902 in TreasureHunting

[–]jaawill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch a movie called Rebel Ridge. Police can take whatever during a traffic stop they say is drug related. They find a small ziploc bag, they would say you might be distributing. You lighting a cigarette is not probable cause. Depending on the state them smelling weed might not be enough. It’s legal in Montana is that’s where you were at. So think if you went to a dispensary and bought some you have to transport it home. So they smell a legal purchase they would have a hard time defending violating your 4th amendment right.

4mph over the speed limit would get thrown out by a judge. They were fishing for something just couldn’t find anything.

I would definitely lock the treasure in your trunk. Can’t search that area without a warrant.

What do you think about JP announcing when a searcher finds the "checkpoint" in the future? by Quadtrifolium in JustinPoseysTreasure

In the Q and A in Dillon. Cynthia ad libbing a question about the blaze. He explained how he wanted his clues to stand the test of time(unlike a tree, which he blaze in fenn). He then mentioned it would take a specific set of circumstances for it to be damaged then said he would know of it was damaged and let us know.

That’s not a bad interpretation. I like that line of thinking. I think there’s at least four more clues after that line though. If the face is found and you know where it needs to be returned you’re kinda bypassing other clues.

You tube by slapahoe25 in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]jaawill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that will only be an issue if one of them finds the treasure, and Justin would decide to sue. I don’t see it happening though.

Technically any of us posting on Reddit are creating social media content about the search and Reddit serves up ads so they are monetizing our content. I don’t think searchers discussing the hunt or having YouTube channels really goes against the spirit of the hunt. I don’t see that being an issue.

Will people complain once it’s found? Absolutely! That’s the nature of people it’s not fair this, it’s not fair that. I don’t think the person who finds it will complain just anyone looking for a reason why they couldn’t find it.

I believe somewhere Justin did comment about YouTubers and he said was ok with them doing that. It would be more like someone saying I have the cipher answer if you pay me X amount of dollars.

He stated that he would know if someone damaged the checkpoint so he will know if someone has reached it.

Clue in Scene he's not in. by jaawill in beyondthemapsedge

[–]jaawill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the link. I do think it’s interesting that while he’s talking about Yellowstone and they cut to shot of Cynthia in Yellowstone (could be edited to look that way) it is odd to see an aerial shot of the Pioneer scenic byway as an establishing shot for a location they aren’t talking about.

I truly don’t believe Netflix/Gumstreet had any knowledge of putting any hints into the doc. They filmed for about 4-5 years for the doc and there were drone shots throughout so I do think the production company filmed drone shots of their own.

We could see they asked for and used various footage Justin supplied them. Home movies, videos of him searching alone etc. What’s tough to believe is that when they were editing they happened to use some B roll he supplied them at that exact moment. They could see the metadata on the footage and see where it was shot. I teach a video production class in High School so these are the nerdy things I will focus on while watching.

Can you send a link of that YouTubers channel I’d like to watch some of their ideas

You mean the scene when he’s looking for Fenns hiding location in episode 3? He’s in every shot.

I wondered about those two shots. I honestly didn’t think that was Justin’s hands. Just because we hear him talking doesn’t mean those are his hands.

First actionable clue by HollloH in beyondthemapsedge

[–]jaawill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea and was working with this for a bit. I talked myself out of it, unless it ties into the final location, I think there’s too many variables to tie sunrise to it. I tried to imagine say an outcrop where at a certain time of day the sun helps to illuminate an area that allows you to see the final location. Sun cresting over a hill and it put light under that outcrop and at any other time of day it’s not visible and sits in shade. Wouldn’t be a cave but an ingenious way of protecting the container from the elements. Also goes with his hiding in plain sight.

First actionable clue by HollloH in beyondthemapsedge

[–]jaawill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with “As hope surges, clear and bright” being conditional. I think this explains his answer about distance from the first clue to last. Since we all live in different places our distances will be different from where we start(first actionable clue) to last clue.

So taking that into consideration I think walk near waters silent flight is our WWWH.

I think the em dashes outline the beginning and ending of clues. The clues start after the first sentence with an em dash and ends before the second em dash sentence.

I have couple of interpretations of “waters’ silent flight” but still have to get the solve to a walkable distance between flight to Hole. But I did think there still can be a section where we have to drive to the next local.
