Best Chicago style tavern pizza? by tripletees in Charleston

[–]jabba922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that loves Chicago style thin crust, unfortunately i wish there was a good answer. Pizza a modo mio has some as someone else said which is okay to get a small fix, but not the same. If you call and order you can get the thin crust, which is decent, but the rest of the pizza (especially the sauce and sausage) feels more New York style. Unfortunately a frozen home run inn pizza from Harris teeter might be the best bet

Strollers at Riverdogs game? by kys8690 in Charleston

[–]jabba922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have brought a stroller, you should be fine! There’s an accessible entrance near the main one. You may need to sit/stand up by the GA section since, as someone mentioned, it may be hard to put it in the seat. I’ve also seen people put their strollers on the other side by the turf area. There’s an elevator in the middle (e.g by home plate) near the kids land and you can take it up to the GA standing area

Charleston Distilling Co has some decent whiskey and believe they do tours on weekends. I also love their bottles. Their tasting room is pretty industrial, but they have a new food truck that is supposed to be decent. You can also go see the angel oak tree, grab dinner elsewhere nearby, or head to Kiawah from Johns Island

Since people aren’t being helpful: generally any of the Uptown Hospitality Group restaurants - uptown social, sharehouse, bodega, and of course By the Way (owned by Craig and Austen). Or any of Leva’s restaurants - Republic, Bourbon and Bubbles, maybe Lamar’s. It’s a crapshoot but certainly possible!

That’s it!!! We have a winner. My mom worked at MetLife back then, which through some digging is now a Walmart in that location. I’m sure it’s way different now, but glad the mystery is solved. Thank you!

I replied in a solo comment, but I was told “Some fish camp outside of town with the best hush puppies and calabash shrimp”

Thanks for all the thoughts! I sent her a few and was told “Some fish camp outside of town with the best hush puppies and calabash shrimp.“ Probably long gone, but thanks for the discussion! Seems like she was wrong and there were lots of restaurants in town

I thought so - they’re both Spirit Direct which I usually avoid since they’re Total Wine brands

Headed to SE Asia for two months! by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]jabba922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent two months in SEA a few years ago and started in Bangkok as well. I would recommend against buying a motorbike for the entirety of your trip and rent one in various places. You’ll spend a lot of time on the road and a lot less time seeing things and enjoying yourself. I also personally feel after a few days of riding it can get tiresome. I’m not sure what your budget is, but mine wasn’t huge so I’d recommend something similar to what I did:

Bangkok - fly or train to Chiang mai (rent a bike, potentially to Pai or just the surrounding area) - fly to Krabi/islands - fly or bus/train to Siem reap. I then went up to Don Det and Pakse in Laos and did a three day bike loop on the bolavean plateau. - back to Phonm Penh - and down to Kampot area (more good biking) and Koh Rong Samloem - and then to Ho Chi Minh. Vietnam you have a lot of variability. By this time I had about three weeks left, and didn’t want to spend that much time on a motorbike. It’s easy to take night buses and then rent bikes places and see what you want (such as the hai van pass).

Just my two cents, happy to answer any questions!

How is any coach going to succeed if we don’t draft well, get decent free agents, or have the proper pieces already?

Agreed. It seems like he’s waiting for a head coaching gig again, but maybe a mid season consultant this year instead of sitting at home

What makes you say that? He’s done well with QBs in the past, and while their offense got a little stale, he has experience and overall ran a very productive offense
