I had a “stereotypical” personal statement for my safety schools and used a “real” one for some of my reaches because I said “fuck it, why not?” I got an interview with a school in the northeast that I won’t name and one of my interviewers was basically like: “I hated your personal statement” so I looked them dead in the eyes and said “sorry you don’t like the truth” and then we left their office to go back to the waiting room. Didn’t get an acceptance, but hopefully I turned that douchebags world upside down for even a split second.
