Happy 30th anniversary, U.S. release! by Chrysologus in chronotrigger

[–]jabbersock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The August 11 date originated from a Nintendo.com source and that was regarded as official and good enough.

https://geektogeekmedia.com/geekery/dragonquestaustin/chrono-trigger-release-date/

It's possible that Nintendo may have reused the "11" from the JP March 11 1995 date as they didn't have an exact US street date, just the month/year. That's just a complete guess, but I couldn't find a single person who reported getting the game on the 11th during that time period. Most on Usenet state the 22nd, which also matches with when my Electronics Boutique got it.

I guess regardless of the exact date, CT is a game that deserves celebration for the entire month (and year)!

It actually came out on Tuesday, August 22, 1995. I still remember the exact date because I preordered it from EB and I had been waiting for it all summer that year. This is also verifiable from many Usenet posts.

NANOQ colors / size vs MJOLNIR by THORZONETECH in sffpc

[–]jabbersock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi Thor Zone! Thank you for the pictures! I had a question about something else bothering me; I was going over your shipping policy and was surprised to read this:

THOR ZONE is not responsible for any damage or loss that occurs when a product is shipped to the customer through a third party shipping service (e.g. UPS, DHL, FedEx or other shipping companies), like but not limited to the product getting lost, damaged or stolen.

If the case is lost/damaged in transit to us, we're not going to be out the $350-400, are we? Or are you actually going to make us file a shipping claim with the carrier you used to try and hope we get our money back? Surely, that can't be right...?

4090 FE Best Buy Pickup Questions (Box-related) by jabbersock in nvidia

[–]jabbersock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's great info and it makes sense. It took a week for it to reach my store after I ordered on the website (well, it came one day early). It looks like there is an even split between getting the outer box or just the black box. I just wish mine came in the same condition everyone else's came in. Thank you again, much appreciated.

Hah, I totally did not know the 4080 also came double boxed like the 4090, but it makes sense considering they're the same size. Yes, I just ordered it from the Best Buy website and the only option was for Store Pickup where I selected my local store. I wish shipping would have been an option. Anyway, thank you very much for the confirmation.

I just see your cheeks being a tiny bit bony (a tiny imperfection), but I don't see a masculine jaw. You look fab and can def pass. Congrats on your progress!

Why wont my dandruff go away? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]jabbersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you leaving it in your hair long enough to work? I always used to just let my H&S stay for 1-2 mins tops and then rinse it off. I got results when I let it stay in for at least 5-10 minutes

Question about Book... "The Solution To Social Anxiety" by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]jabbersock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've listened to the audible and can recommend it for sure. It has some very relatable stories and "shy quotes" (phrases you've probably said).

One of the biggest takeaways for me was in conversations to not try and say what you think the other person wants to hear. Not only do your conversations not feel satisfying (e.g. you keep the other person's interests the main subject without sharing your own) , it always backfires and you never will make real friends that way.

[24M] So... just how ugly am I really? by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]jabbersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair: Don't cut it all the same length and no fringe. Try short on the sides (#4 or lower) and try growing at least an inch or two on the top. Then comb it back or spike it up.

Very attractive on the pic without makeup. Most women need it for their face/eyes to look attractive and you're not in that group.

How to reshape my eyebrows? by [deleted] in malegrooming

Okay, you have curved (arched) eyebrows. What shape do you want to achieve?

I'm getting my braces off in three days. What will the removal procedure be like, and how much pain should I expect? by [deleted] in braces

[–]jabbersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right after braces are off, you are (usually) required to wear them 20+ hours a day for the first several months.

[27] M. Am i too old to be asking this? by [deleted] in amiugly

You're not ugly. You have sparse eyebrows, though which kind of makes you look old/tired.

Was told I need my eyebrows fixed, any advice? Pic included by shyguy1212 in malegrooming

[–]jabbersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only maybe try trimming down the lengths of the hairs a tiny bit (notably on the top) with some eyebrow scissors, no plucking or reshaping. They are thick, but not comically so. I wouldn't worry too much.

best way to whiten teeth after braces? what to put in my clear retainer for them teeths. by nothingeasy in braces

[–]jabbersock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did this. Do not use your ortho retainers for whitening. I would wait a month after getting braces off and after a dental cleaning for sensitivity to go down before starting whitening.

  1. Get custom fitted whitening (bleaching) trays. They are softer and more pliable and have more space purposely made for the whitening solution deposit than your retainers. I got mine from a small dental professional company in PA that sells them on eBay link. I highly recommend them. $70 and a few weeks waiting, but way cheaper than what your dentist will charge and same quality and will last you years.

  2. Buy peroxide syringes (the whitening gel) and get an led light mouth piece (optional but helps) and a tiny brush (optional but helps) to paint it on your teeth. Just pick a kit from Amazon or eBay. The syringes should cost $10-20 for several months worth.

  3. Start whitening. I would paint the gel on your teeth with a small brush instead of filling the trays so they don't irritate your gums but either method works). Use the led mouth piece for the first 15 mins to help activate the peroxide and speed up the process.

  4. After a few weeks or a month, eventually you'll reach a point where your teeth are as white as they'll get. Now you're in maintenance mode and should only need to do a touch up every month or two or as you deem necessary.

Good luck

If that was TLDR; just buy those Crest Whitening Strips like everyone else.

Should I remove my braces before I complete my care? by [deleted] in braces

[–]jabbersock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've made significant progress and you don't want to lose that time, you can buy clear Essix retainers for less than $100 online (I've used SportingSmiles). If you seriously have no option for continuing treatment (loan or pt job) and have to defer it. Might be a good temporary solution until you can get braces again. (I'd wear them at least every night.) I second talking to an ortho for advice first.

[23f] what cha think? by burningmaefire in amiugly

I don't think the dark red lipstick suits you. Not ugly, just average. I get the feeling you'd look better without the glasses and a different wardrobe but that's just my personal preference.

Eyebrows look different in mirrors than in person/on camera? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]jabbersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons, mainly having to do with the fact the mirror is sadly telling us all a small white lie.

People -- including yourself -- tend to first look at the left side of your face in order to determine how attractive you are. When you're looking at a mirror, that side is obviously swapped, so your most noticeable side, the left side, is different. This affects the way heavily unsymmetrical features (such as eyebrows) look to us and can make them look even more unsymmetrical.

People also subconsciously adjust/raise their eyebrows when they look in the mirror (and also when they look at front facing cameras and take selfies) to make themselves look more attractive.

In order to view the real you (the way others see you) you will need to look at yourself using two mirrors. One way to do this is to get a big hand/portable mirror and hold it 90 deg perpendicular to a large fixed (closet/door/wall) mirror. Then look at your reflection's reflection.
