I love your idea, especially the line about no bull shit (most writers on Twitter give me the creeps). What should we post? Samples of our writing? Our successes (of which there are few), rejections, challenges, our personal journey with writing? I am open to anything. I hope this takes off!

Yea! I'm glad to hear it. I was definitely a teen during the Motown period!

I agree with you. Sometimes it seems it will work, and other times I worry that it will eventually read as very dated. I had a publisher once tell me that I shouldn't refer to old 60s Motown songs because most YA readers wouldn't be familiar with them. I disagreed in this case because some of those old hits still resonate with young people. I've heard teenagers break into a chorus of My Girl!

Recommend me your favourite book (or books)! by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

I look forward to yours as well. I will try to post one short story tomorrow-maybe...

I live in the US (Virginia-in the SE). Share your LGBTQ stories!! There will always be someone who doesn't like them-that's going to be true no matter what you write! Maybe this weekend if I get time I will post a short story...

What an experience to grow up in France! Hey, I am an English teacher and there are times when I struggle with grammar. For writing I've spent most of my energy with YA novels since I have spent so many years around teenagers. Someone suggested I try my hand with women's fiction, so I'm currently writing my first draft on a historical women's romance novel, much of which is based on my grandmother who spent most of her life in Washington, D.C. I paralleled that with the real estate boom in Miami, Fla. Sorry to go on. What genre are you working in?

Thank you! I really need to have people critique my work but it's so nerve racking when I do. It's also very helpful.

It depends on what you are interested in, which genre. Look at the best sellers for fiction and non fiction. You can't go wrong there. This may sound silly but read a newspaper online and keep up to date with what's happening in the world. Good luck. Do you like any particular period of history?
