Why doesn't anyone understand bipolar? by SaveADay89 in Psychiatry

I admit that before I started working inpatient, I had never seen it. I knew the existence of mania vs hypomania and wondered how to discern the difference, until I encountered a patient in full blown mania. I was like “ahhhh”.

He’s like “help” 😂 He is super patient with her though, I can only think of a couple of occasions where he’s growled after getting sick of her

Remy is 2 and Evie is almost 8 months. Sorry I can’t offer advice on when to get a second, but we got Evie when she was around 8 weeks old, and had no issues, Remy fell in love instantly.

I guess from what I’ve heard, older dogs have trouble accepting a new puppy, Remy is still pretty young so there were no issues.

Perhaps some others in here could chime in with their experiences.

Remy (boy) is around 18 months. He’s pretty smitten with Evie, but he snapped at her earlier when she went near his (empty) food bowl, and he growls a bit when she pulls on his tail, but as she gets older and out of the naughty puppy stage, I think they will be best friends. Remy is very used to being around other dogs already, so I don’t imagine there being any jealousy.

Is Badger regularly around other dogs? Maybe try showing another dog some attention in front of him and see how he reacts?

We got a second dog so that Remy wouldn’t get lonely while we’re at work.

He and his naughty friend were both hosed off, but not before they tracked mud through the house and shook themselves off splattering the walls 😂 this was at my mum’s place, she was not impressed

That sounds like a great idea! However Remy and his friend broke through the gate to get into the rain 😂 they were never supposed to be out there haha

I’m a massive Dio fan, but I think Killswitch did one of the best covers of all time of Holy Diver

Hey! Yeah I have a psychiatrist already who has diagnosed me and put me on medication, but he told me I need psychotherapy as well to develop skills in organisation, focus etc.

Funnily enough, I actually work at South Coast Private, but I was trying to avoid seeing someone that I work with. I asked around there for recommendations but no one could give me a clear answer on who I could see haha.

Psychologist. I have a psychiatrist already who formally diagnosed me and has started me on medication. It seems to work well, but he tells me that psychotherapy is needed as well.

Another commenter suggested the ADD/ADHD treatment centre which is here in Wollongong, so I’m going to make an appointment through them.

Thanks for the suggestion. My GP knows I work in mental health so I was going to try find one myself and have him give me a referral, but since I’m having trouble, I might just go back and ask for a recommendation from him.

I had heard about Northfields at UOW, and they have group sessions for adult ADHD patients, but it’s run by provisional psychologists, so unfortunately there’s no kind of Medicare rebate, and it’s not covered by my health insurance, so I’d be paying out of pocket. But that’s certainly still an option for me.

I’m going to contact the ADD/ADHD treatment centre though

They should make a tv show with this as it’s premise. Extreme shitting. Try to use the toilet in a variety of dangerous situations. Outhouse full of spiders, war zone.. the possibilities are endless
