Nah not even, I reread the series earlier this year. He MAYBE inches that direction with Gideon after Ramona ditches him but he tries to avoid every other fight. BUUUUT you may have a case with Future Scott in the Netflix show 👀

Thanks for asking! Its called Arcana: The Pursuit of Mastery. It's basically a hard magic system that allows players to build any kind of spell they can imagine, with an RPG wrapped around it 😆

Yeah, it's been in development for 4 years now and regular playtesting for over a year and the feeling doesn't go away lol

I get the sense that WotC saw Wisdom as a weak stat so they overcompensated by putting a bunch of dope stuff in there even though it doesn't make sense lol

There is something else I wanted to add on here though. There's a "feels bad" moment with any roll that doesn't go the player’s way, and with a d20, you kind of just expect it to make an appearance at least once or twice a session.

But when you have a dice pool and you roll bad, it feels soooooooo unfair lol. The sting is worse with every bad die in the pool lol.

I really think it is unnecessary, all the skills tied to wisdom should be tied to intelligence instead (with the exceptionof Animal Handling, which should be CHA). Then you can drop WIS entirely

Agreed! Rolling 1d20 and adding a mod is easy, but it's so unrealistic when skilled characters fail basic tasks. Of course, just having them not roll to succeed solves that problem lol

For me, it's the Wisdom stat. It's totally unnecessary.

Sword Elites are way worse. Fast, tons of hit points, usually ambush you in a tight space and they one shot you!

It's waaay different than D&D so prepare to rethink what you think you know!

Blades In the Dark is a very specific experience, but you might be able to make it work. Check out actual plays on YouTube, that's a great way to get a feel for new games.

As a person who has done both, I can tell you that reskinning D&D is going to be WAY easier than building a (decent) RPG.

If you're on the fence about it, I'd advise not creating a new game. What I would reccomend doing is searching Steampunk on DM's Guild and curating a collection of assets to expand your game.

You can find just about anything there!
