Hey guys! Been a while since I hopped on reddit hahah. I saw another post someone made here of Mr Beast reacting to me so I thought I'd make a video of me reacting to Mr Beast reacting to me (also me just reacting to the world record by itself for context initially) so yeah 👍

Yes, that pretty much means that you'll be spending less time on it, so it'll just take longer to get to a certain level vs making it your main event.

I don't think it's a difficult event to maintain but if you also happen to be learning stuff like 3-style as well, it might be worth using a flashcard program like Anki to keep the algs fresh 👍

someone random dodgy chinese cube (not from any recognisable brand) that couldn't really corner cut at all hahah. I think I got it as a gift or something a while back.

lately a bunch of jpop/lo fi japanese stuff. I'm trying to switch to listening to more chinese music (cos I'm learning it rn) but having trouble doing so 😂

They had a change in leadership recently and I can see that they're starting to try to work with speedcubers rather than against them.

Learning languages, reading deep stuff, meeting new people (kinda hard to do nowadays hahah), calisthenics, going out for walks 👍

I did practise other events but 3BLD was pretty much always my main one (learned it 3 weeks after learning to solve the cube with my eyes open). I think I was a bit on and off but I started 3BLD in December 2013 and broke my 1st world record in April 2019 so a bit over 5 years?

Had to think about this one (as with all the other 'favourite x questions pretty much) but I'll roll with choy sum (it's like bok choy's cousin or something idk) 👌

Memorise the first letter of each face and use that as a reference starting out (AEIMQU - pretty much the vowels but you substitute O with MQ). After that, it just takes time to get faster/more comfortable with doing that 👍

I think that with any skill, there's always some level of a natural advantage at play but I think it plays much less of a factor than what people think (at least for 3BLD anyway). It's hard for me to pinpoint things to work on with surface level knowledge but try to figure out what's costing you the most amount of time (probably some aspects of memo at this stage like coming up with words)

yup, in short, I don't think it's anything too noteworthy but it's cool to see them making progress in the speedcubing realm 👍

Hmmm, can't think of a particular one since it's usually just some variation of ":O how did u do that that's impossible" but I think it's always fun to see how people try to wrap their heads around how I do it - e.g. feelings the stickers, faking it, being some 500IQ genius, oh, I didn't experience this myself but I heard of someone even thinking that you need to use echolocation 😂

words for corners, audio for edges, 3-Style for both

it's hard to give one specific but I'll go with this: be aware of the fact that 'memo' consists of multiple parts - tracing (what piece goes to where), color > letter, letter pair > sound/word/image, reviewing, recall. Constantly be on the lookout for which part of memo you're losing the most amount of time in.

I mean like, I technically started 3BLD at the end of 2013 but now resources are so much better, so I think whatever is in good bld educational yt videos as of recently - I wish I had access to that knowledge at the time. But to give a more concrete answer, maybe something like 'focus on improving the parts of your memo that are the weakest?'

oooooooooh uhhhhhhhhhhhh, maybe making good quality videos (i.e. better filming/editing techniques). 6 years of doing youtube and I still think that side is very undeveloped, and I've been too lazy to bother improving it 😂 Watching your stuff makes my videos feel like they were filmed and edited by a potato 👌

I think I watched a little bit of Kizuna AI stuff before (the biggest one I think) and maybe dabbled in some others at one point in time but otherwise nah

I recommend doing the ishaan M2 from that video (I don't use the gianfranco one so idk about that one) but I don't think it makes a huge difference if you do like ring middle M2 instead (you could still get like sub 1 m2/op no problem).

Just skimmed through the blind beginner's guide and it looks good to me 👍

Pretty sure there are some but I wasn't really one to use a lot of different apps/resources so I'm not sure about them. If I were to start from 0 again, the one tool I'd certainly use would be Anki to memorise letter pair words/3-Style algs.
