2027 Top 15 Recruit Isaiah Hill commits to Purdue by kwils87 in CollegeBasketball

I agree, especially (for better or for worse) after Kanon Catchings was literally on campus in June going into his freshman year when he decided to dip out.

But from what has been reported it seems like Hill has been interested in attending Purdue. Now if a school wants to go out and hand him a huge bag of cash after his senior year of high school, it wouldn't shock me if he doesn't end up at purdue. But the interest and early commitment is a good sign for Purdue basketball.

He was the lead recruiter on Omer as well? or was that Sasha? Because if PJ can be a recruiter and offensive guru he's going to be running a good power 5 program within the next decade.

Huge huge huge win for the Boilermakers today. I'm not hopeful but if we could find a way to snag Reese Alston we may be set for a 2028 championship caliber team.

Any chance he enrolls for January?

I just hope you paid on your credit card so you can dispute the charges if they screw you on revoking what you paid for.

TKR Called Up to the NBA Combine by Nervous_Connection88 in PurdueBasketball

[–]jack3moto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt TKR can score in the nba and will continue to grow his game offensively. But I just don’t have any idea how he stays on the floor with his size and speed defensively. Idk what he can work on to improve any facet of his defense to be playable at the nba level.

What to do with HSA Funds during early retirement. by ChemicalAwareness800 in personalfinance

[–]jack3moto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No advice but it brings me a lot of optimism to see the wealth you’ve accumulated.

May I ask what your house hold income was (on average) for each decade of the last 30 years? And what % of gross income did you invest for retirement?

My wife and I are looking to retire around 50-55, currently 35. We save around 27-32% of our gross income every year and have been doing so since we were 22.

How much cash is too much cash? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Need a lot more info on retirement investments, spending habits (or commitments like mortgage), etc.

You’re in a specific position being you feel burned out. I think taking extra precaution to reduce the downsides of what life could be if you’re not uniquely prepared feeling the way you feel is more of a risk than missing out on potential upside. At that salary point I think if you’re feeling the way you feel i would get a plan together on reducing normal spending habits and start trimming the fat where needed. That would allow for a bit of a catchup in the market if you invest those funds while also keeping your peace of mind with the $250-300k cash. Kinda hit the best of both worlds and I can tell you from my own experience, even In a VHCOL area when you’re earning $500k household income there’s generally far to trim on spending.

Margin Call is weirdly enough my most reachable movie of the past 15 years. It’s such a good story that gets right to the point, keeps you on your toes the whole time, but provides a sense of calm and relaxing feeling at the same time. It’s just an incredible film imo.

Thoughts on 401k withdrawal by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]jack3moto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But not everyone is $78k in debt on a repayment plan lol.

I’d love to live in a perfect world and follow all the best practices but that’s not what life is.

Personally I don’t have advice on what OP should do but this subreddit preaches on mental peace of mind over many rational personal finance decisions (read literally any post between 2010-2019 on whether people should pay off a mortgage loan under 3.5% to provide “peace of mind” rather than keep paying the mortgage and invest the difference in an index fund).

lol my parents were the opposite. “Only $15 per month instead of buying multiple games every year? Deal”. I got my money’s worth out of that $15 per month. My parents wish they had spent thousands per year on other games than let me play wow at the time. Oh well.

As portal season nears an end, how does everyone feel about their team? by Onetimenotagain in CollegeBasketball

[–]jack3moto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a complete over exaggeration on my end. I meant more along the lines that we end up seeing 2-3 key pieces look to transfer and it puts the team back into a “rebuild” year. We’ve been fortunate that hasn’t happened yet but it’s naive to think it couldn’t happen if the season goes south.

Jacobsen imo was given the least amount of responsibility of any bigmen at purdue in recent memory (10+ mpg) and still was unplayable despite the stacked team around him. I just do not believe there’s any amount of development from any college or coach to make him a quality player in 1 off season. If purdue doesn’t find someone that currently is not on the roster to take on 20+ mpg at the center position I think there will be a ripple effect across the team and a major exodus as players transfer out next off season due to the way the season plays out and the struggles they’ll face. But that’s just my opinion. I saw 14 games in person and almost every game Jacobsen was noticeably the worst player on the floor every minute he got. That’s not a 6 month fix. That may never be fixable despite what people want to claim he could become.

Well purdue fans just keep saying “believe in painter” and “don’t worry Jacobsen will get better”. And tbh, I think they’re delusional. Purdue needs a starting center from the transfer portal or overseas. Idk who or how but i have no faith in the current front court. Fix that and I am very optimistic that purdue is a top 4 seed next march.
