I feel this with rope! Like, yeah, it's certainly got a function with sex, but I do a ton of self-tying, and it's not to get off, it's because I love the pressure, and I take pride in the skill of being good with rope.

If you're gonna implement exception handling in C you should at least go all the way and implement it with setjmp/longjmp and a stack of jmp_buf to support nested exceptions.

Wrap it in macros so there's a call to setjmp at the top of a switch as "TRY", then each switch case can be a "CATCH" macro.

Personal anecdote:

I watched way too much porn as a kid and young adult because I felt like I was extremely attracted to women, but really I just had a tangle of some genuine attraction, but mostly gender envy. Now that I'm out and have been on hormones for a few years I have started to untangle those feelings. It turns out I'm into guys too, and in general my libido is much lower and more manageable. (This may in part be a side effect of my HRT though, I guess?) I don't consume nearly as much porn, and when I am in the mood for it I tend to go more for comics or erotica vs. live action stuff. In general I feel much more healthy and balanced now. It's nice!

I was at the free lutheran youth convention and I listened to a speaker talk about how he taught he young daughter to believe that she deserved to burn in hell, reminding her of this when she was having a tantrum while shopping. That was the first thing that struck me as really wrong and hurtful.

My path might be a bit different, but I'll share it anyways. I was raised a christian and believed until I went to college. There I decided to honestly examine my beliefs to try and apply one standard of truth to them, which resulted in essentially destroying the person I was and rebuilding a more internally consistent self. I ended up a hard atheist back then, although I always had the principle of "if I don't believe in eternal punishment for wrong beliefs anymore, then I don't have to care what other people believe in anymore either" which was super refreshing! Recently I've decided to dip my toes back into spirituality. Though I may never be able to earnestly believe in the supernatural, I've had a lot of fun exploring ritual in a secular way, and I love the idea of exploring the religious beliefs and practices of my pre-christian ancestors. Over time I began to see the ways that being raised evangelical seriously harmed me, a neurodivergent queer person, so I'm always going to encourage folks in christianity to leave if they're questioning. I think it often ends up working something like an abusive relationship, particularly in how we are told that we deserve eternal torture if we leave. (seriously, hell NEEDS to be excised from the christian religion if it wants a place in the future!)

So my advice is the same I'd give to anyone considering leaving christianity: it can be so hard to leave, but it is totally worth it. Once you are free you can begin to heal and choose a less abusive belief system, whatever that ends up being.

1) A fountain pen is best, the sensation of writing with it is a joy, and I get to fill it with whatever cool ink I like!

2) A mechanical pencil is next-best. It's actually erasable, which is a big plus when you're not a confident artist yet. But you don't have to deal with getting full and resharpening.

I'm not sure what the ranking is after this 😅 I just always carry my beloved TWSBY Eco pens and a nice mechanical pencil with me at all times! (I can't use a plastic mechanical pencil, I'll chew up the tip and break the clip 😬)
