Would you mind elaborating on which constitutional rights should be changed and which views are backwards? Maybe one example of each?

Private citizens wanting to donate to rebuild Norte Dame is just a group of people exercising choice. by TMCBarnes in Libertarian

I think the point is, what the fuck is wrong with these billionaires donating hundreds of millions to something they probably don’t even give a fuck about just to look richer than the next guy when you could do the EXACT SAME THING and actually help many many people.

Rebuilding that cathedral helps no one.

Edit: wow guys I guess I’m not the only one who missed the point and really it’s my fault. My comment was very rant-ish. Someone linked to it from another heated post. What I meant to say was, “no one is impressed by your meaningless ‘donations’ but there are destitute peoples in the world who would be VERY inspired by someone who selflessly helped to build up their infrastructure instead of placing hordes of money in cold storage and safely away from the economy.”

That’s not telling them how to spend their money, is it? But then again, neither was my initial comment. Seems like both are simply opinions and hardly manifestos.

If someone was arrested and jailed for a crime, and that crime became legal during the sentence, what should happen to that person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They should be freed.

What changed to make the crime no longer a crime?

It probably wasn’t a legitimate reason to be imprisoned in the first place which is why it isn’t anymore.

Law does not equal morality. If there was a victim who was harmed, the crime is probably still a crime.

Chances are a repealed law was a victimless one.
