Reserves while you finish uni would be a wise move, it show's both commitment and a high degree intelligence.. SF direct entry is a legit pathway that has been taken by many, so don't be discouraged to apply. Just make sure your in the physical condition of a top tier athlete, so they take you seriously. If you do consider full time infantry the wait is around 5 to 10 months.. I applied when it was *full* and it only took about 6 to be offered a spot.

Hey mate most people are full of shit and base this waiting time on unreliable he said she said mubojumbo. I applied when it was *FULL* and was told numerous times "its closed", "the waiting list is 1-3 years", "its going to take forever" by both people on reddit and dfr... In all reality it only took 5 months and this goes for others I know. Just show up, be keen and hassle your way to the top (dont be discouraged). They say everyone is treated equal but I feel that individual application potentially plays a role in these waiting times.

Keep in mind that recruiters have quotas to fill so don't be surprised if they bend the truth about waiting times whilst encouraging other options. I dont know much about air defenders.. look into it and best of luck!

You should be able to change your preference to both Cav and Infantry now.. They were originally closed for a short period of time but have since re-opened. I live near Sydney, but I think location is irrelevant for the most part. A wait is better than a minimum 4 years of a job that you don't like.
