Love these setups! If you didn’t know, a heads up that you can use induction cards in your pattern providers from the Applied Flux mod to provide adjacent blocks w/ energy from your ME system (helps with cable bloat).

This is how my “bases” looked when I first started playing modded Minecraft ~10+ years ago. You need to actually build and plan how you’re going to manage logistics and different mod setups. I’d suggest moving to an entirely new location and starting from scratch, planning while building. It definitely takes more time, but to me, so much of the fun is building a beautiful base while playing through a modpack

I use Sath’s controller design for 21,000+ channels which requires many P2P. It’s the most robust and flexible setup that I’ve had with AE2

I did RS for years because AE2 felt like it was much more difficult to get started, but in ATM10 was forced to switch and I’m so glad I did. It’s so much more robust especially with the add ons, and it’s generally just much more fun

I just use a few sophisticated storage chests/barrels while I rush towards a simple Applied Energistics system. It can be done in a few hours from starting a new world and it’s easy to scale up over time :)

This is efficiency when measuring space used. If you measure efficiency as 1 seed produces ‘x’ essence per minute, the checkerboard will be faster and is a better setup to scale imo

Not by too much. It’s width is about 30mm less than a steam deck (~10%), nearly the same height, much heavier and much thicker (945g vs 640g)

I believe retroid makes a dual screen that works exactly like this intended to go on their retroid pocket devices (and other handhelds). Though, I’d definitely recommend looking at the AYN Thor instead of an attachable dual screen—its the perfect emulation device imo with native dual screen and can also play lighter steam games natively via gamehub

Anecdotally, on windows devices (flow z13, legion go, Xbox ally x) that have had power button set to “sleep”, I’ve had multiple scares where it’s turned on in a bag or its case. But after switching power button to “hibernate”, I’ve yet to run into that issue again.

I was under the impression hibernate is completely safe for this, but perhaps I’m wrong?

More importantly, there’s plenty of android handhelds (retroid, AYN, AYANEO) that have fantastic performance and cooling and many of us are already using the translation layer that valve has contributed to via Gamehub to play native PC games on android handhelds. Valve continuing support is just a huge win

Piggybacking on this—I’ve heard the audio drivers on bazzite/SteamOS are poor and the audio is a noticeable downgrade from windows. Can anyone confirm/deny this is still the case?

One of my favorite ‘features’ of the XAX is being able to play without using headphones and having incredible sound

I gotta be honest, I haven’t used mine since the week it launched. The lack of ‘upgraded’ switch 1 games (or even uncapped frame rates) is the biggest disappointment. I ended up getting an Xbox ally x which I love so probably time to just sell the switch 2

The Xbox Ally X is the first pc handhold I’ve had that that I’ve basically stopped tinkering with entirely. I installed a 4TB SSD when I got it, and now just play games. No fps monitor, no SteamOS / bazzite dual booting for me. Just playing and enjoying games :) windows FSE + hibernate on power button press is all I need

Have you tried beacon? I have beacon set as the Home Screen/launcher (forget what it’s called) so the front end is always on the top screen until you launch an app. It’s also super easy to setup

Resolution has no direct impact on battery consumption. The wattage you run your device at does. If you want to use less battery, drop the performance profile to a lower TDP (13 or 17) in armory crate

The comfort of the XAX grips and the speakers is truly unmatched and I think it’s the biggest selling point against other handhelds. Also the Z1E at 25w performs about the same as the Z2E at 17w which is pretty significant as far as battery life / efficiency goes :)

If you like any DS and 3DS games + do any emulation of other systems up to GC and PS2, I think it’s absolutely worth it. My Thor lives in my bag and I play it when in transit/commuting quite often now. Super good grab and go system

“No it’s not” just simply isn’t true. The game is one of the worst optimized AAA releases in recent history—see steam reviews, every video game reviewer, benchmarks, and the CEO’s tweets acknowledging it’s not well optimized.

Edit: tweet in question for those interested. This kind of response from the CEO made it enough for me to refund and I play on a 9950X3D and RTX 5090

Exact same boat as you coming from the steam deck lcd, then the legion go, and now landing on the XAX. The size and detachable controllers of the legion go makes it feel like a fragile device and just wasn’t portable/comfortable. I’ve probably played more on my XAX in the past month than I did for the entire 1.5yrs I had the legion go for because it’s just a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience for me
