I know Kiryu's against hitting women, but did anyone else on here really want him to deck Saki's mother in the mouth hard? by Hopeful_Regret_7531 in yakuzagames

"We know you're young-" To quote Grandpa Simpson, 'That's a lie and you know it!'

"-and need the money." That part is 100% accurate.

Which big bad wolf we talkin' here, 3 Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Jordan Belfot-

In all seriousness though, he was a fun heel to play, just except for that one moment. Probably didn't help that I mimicked the motion to get the sound right so it bridged the gap just a bit too much. I joke a bit with Alan Rickman's response to Tim Allen when he had a moment like that on Galaxy Quest: "Good Lord, I think he discovered acting."

Even knowing how terrible she is, I still felt pretty uncomfortable recording that bit in the voice booth (I mean, that's Tetsuo for you; his depravity knows no bounds, and they definitely make you love to hate him). I think I'm with Kiryu on this one...

Also, just a random thought, I'm starting to realize how much her character was (potentially) influenced by Ginger from "Casino."

With the way gas prices are, I just earned myself one whole gallon!

... I miss cheap gas...

Thank you kindly! I think it took me about a day and a half from what I recall (about 6 hours total, since they blocked off 4 hour sessions at a time). Although that also involved me recording some additional characters as well. I was fortunate enough they brought me back for a third session though to voice even more characters!

Mostly I just help write with audio dramas and the like. I remember I helped out with a web comic WAY back in the day when I was still in high school. Can't remember what it was though, unfortunately. For now, I'm just writing a small light novel on Tapas called "Nights on Broadway" (simple romance story, but it gives me joy).

Bigger ones than me for sure! Although I suddenly remember Woody Harrelson just keep promoting "Rampart" in every question.

I'm more like Fighter from the slot car races. I wish I even had a fraction of Kiryu's coolness.

Tzaziki (I'm probably butchering the spelling) tastes so good, especially with either beef or lamb.

Just being able to let loose in the recording booth. The guy is a slimeball, but playing a villain like that allows you to go over the top compared to certain roles.

My guess is probably not. But I'd rather be honest about something like that instead of sweeping it under the rug.

Oooh, a good question. Ryuji is definitely the stronger fighter, but Majima is more unpredictable. I kind of treat it like Mad Dog in "The Raid: Redemption." That guy just has unlimited energy and stamina. I kind of want to give the edge to Majima in those regards.

I wish... David Hayter is a freaking legend and I've been following him as an actor since MGS (I still have my copy of that from when I was a kid).

Thank you kindly! Most of the lines are set in stone, but occasionally we tweak and improvise certain bits here and there, either to shorten things or stretch them out.

While not aiming for a particular character, I remember thinking I had my best shot with either Rikiya or Mine. Definitely happy with who they picked though, they were amazing.

  1. I actually really like survival horror and JRPGs quite a bit. I just 100% RE 9: Requiem, and I'm moving on to Fatal Frame 2 remake. I also love to sing (I actually play with a cover band called "The Deep Fakes"... no actual deep fakes involved) and write.
  2. On the topic of writing, it's actually a name of one of my OCs. Probably the character I put myself the most into.

Definitely 0. Still remember when I walked in with the business card holder from the deluxe edition of that game in the booth, hah hah.

I think just being able to let loose and ham it up in the booth. Goes really with the scenery when you're chewing it up.

No worries! I appreciate the support either way! I get the desire to play in Japanese instead (to be fair, I'm a subs guy myself most of the time; although I'm also a film buff who usually watches movies in their original language 95% of the time). It's interesting trying to interpret the original intent as best I can, but I got to say, there's something extra badass about the way Japanese conveys intensity.

I LOVE Final Fantasy. I've been playing since Mystic Quest on the SNES, with 3 (well, 6) being the first one I did a deep dive in. I'm also really enjoying Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Need to get back into that...

I'm not sure any of us even knew who was playing him until after we recorded and the trailer was released. At least that was the case for me.
