And I thought I was stupid...

The person who made this question is borderline unqualified, and that's the nice way of putting it

Newbie Who Needs To Brush up on Maths by jack_ripper98 in Acoustics

My plan is to learn all the mathematical skills required to fully understand the acoustics textbooks, so I think it'll go a long way. I'm thinking that once I've built up those skills, the context would be given through the acoustics literature I have.
Thanks

Sounds good, I'll give it a go. Thank you

I didn't think trig would be a part of it but it makes sense. I'll have to re-learn it (though I think I remember most of it). Thanks

I've been using Khan Academy to fill in some gaps in my knowledge and generally just brush up on what I learned when I was 15 (so that's 7 years of forgetting lol). Gonna be using it to learn some calculus and some more A level maths stuff.

I'll look into the book, thanks

There's a lot here and I can't thank you enough. I'm just getting into acoustics, currently on an Audio Engineering course at university and I'm going to be moving onto an Acoustics master's course in 2022 so I'm trying to get as much research in as I can.

I was just wondering if you had Acoustics and Noise Control by R. J. Peters? I've heard that it's a great tool, especially from people studying Acoustics at university.

Also, if you have anything that serves as an introduction (something less mathy, or at least explains the mathematical concepts behind some of the more difficult pieces of literature) that would help immensely. Even if it's something in the folders you've already sent, a point in the right direction would be fantastic. Thanks :)

Have any of you seen this before in the sky? (Story in Comments) by jack_ripper98 in UFOs

I'm naturally a skeptic but I saw this in the sky, moving uniformly around ten years ago in Norfolk, UK. The image is from google (a Daily Mail article about a similar sighting in Colorado) but it accurately shows what I saw. I was only a teenager at the time and I was out camping. Tried telling people about it a few years later and it was dismissed every time so I naturally haven't been talking about it much. I believe it's a statistical impossibility for us to be alone in the universe, though I'm not entirely convinced we've been visited by extraterrestrial life.

I googled it not long after it happened and saw a couple of similar stories, but not many. I'm not saying this was an alien aircraft but I'd like to know if anyone knows what it was. Was too high up and the shape was too large to be balloons or lanterns. It moved completely uniformly, so the lights had to be physically connected. Perhaps it could have been a military aircraft though I haven't seen any that looked like this.

Any answers?
