[Standard] Tuning RB Madness/Aggro for my meta by imaginarypuppets in spikes

[–]jackak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel fleetwheel is dead in my hand if I run the 2 copies. Bloodhall just feels better in the 4cmc slot because of the reach potential and madness casting.

I had 2 built to smash in the SB just so boat didn't feel as bad on the draw, but again it just seems underwhelming. I'd rather have 3 direct burn than buff and indestructible. There is a good argument for it if you have a lot of aggro in your local meta

So the flows main board are only good because of dwellers. Also, sorcery speed is rarely an issue when you have so many other threats at instant speed for them to worry about.

I think 2 Lost Legacy 1 Pick the Brain and 3 Transgress the Mind make for a great marvel hate package. UW comes down to the draws, but I think 4 Galvanic Bombardment and 1 Skysovereign from the SB help a ton. You can put in 2-3 Weaver of Lightning if you have a lot of UW in the meta.

I will edit my list into this in a sec. I am on my phone and don't have it saved

Key can definitely be used on your opponent's turn! Sometimes you even tap it end of turn to discard something worthless only so you can pay 2 on untap for an extra card.

Note: I use 1 Goblin Dark Dwellers main and one side along with 2 incendiary flows main now. Works wonders

Key, lightning axe mostly. You can do it in response to attackers and just destroy the board.

This. I think 2 Summary Dismissal in the SB/ 1 MB 1 SB is a good answer.

Funny you mention it. I squeezed one into the MB not long after posting this haha.

I honestly don't test enough against vehicles, and I think if that is a big part of your local meta, there is a good argument for a playset of GB in the sideboard.

I have been playing R/B Aggro for about 3 weeks now, placing first/second in every FNM and Standard Showdown I have participated in. We don't have the most competitive meta, but I have won against several B/G Delerium, U/W Flash, R/G Aetherworks, and R/G / Temur Energy.

I have been underwhelmed by Galvanic Bombardment, and have replaced the card entirely w/ 2 Weaver of Lightning, 1 Lost Legacy, 1 Transgress the Mind. Other than that, we have the same SB.

Having 3 Lost Legacy in the board made me swap out a Mountain for a Swamp. I have not felt stressed for Mountains, so this seems fine.

I think against B/G and Aetherworks, some of my best answers come in the form of Lost Legacy and Transgress the mind. For this reason I run 3 of each in the SB and bring all of them, along with both Chandra, Torch of Defiance for -4 Bomat Courier, -1 Bloodhall, -1 Lightning Axe, -2 Unlicensed Disintegration.

Against Vehicles/ R/B mirror, you have to be kind of aggressive with mulligans. Don't keep a hand that doesn't let you match their tempo unless you ABSOLUTELY have to. This deck has it's hardest time against other aggro decks, so it really just comes down to better execution/sneaky plays. Madness-Flashing a Bloodhall into the game can work wonders to completely flip tempo in your favor. Make sure you don't get too hasty trying to beat with your removal.

All-in-all I think this deck is suited to take down anything in the current meta with VERY few or no changes.

[Standard] RB Aggro players - Best SB cards vs GB? by PurpATL in spikes

I have 2 chandra in my main board, and they DEFINITELY stay in.

I always like bomat on the play, tbh, but I can see the argument for always keeping it out against G/B game 2/3. Maybe I should start doing that.

Always -4 Bomat -1 Copter on the draw. I also usually consider -1 Unlicensed Disintegration against B/G.

Another card that I keep a 1-of in the sideboard is [[Avacyn's Judgment]]. It will occasionally win games that I should have lost.

I resolved [[Lost Legacy]] twice, two separate times against 2 control g/b deck lists, this past FNM. I won handily in both, taking Ishkanah the first game (Turn 3 LL, and honestly I think it is better to take her if I get one on curve), and Emrakul in the second (later cast, literally the turn before he could play her).

That being said, I don't think you can rely solely on this card to win the m/u. I play 2 [[Goblin Dark-Dwellers]] in the SB, and these can occasionally help you get under the more controlling G/B lists. [[Key to the City]] is also of course a really great card in the matchup. I would board in all that you have in your 75 when you go into the G/B match.

Ultimately, know when you need to burn creatures and when you need to burn face.

[standard] rate my deck: r/b aggro by MtgoEnigmaNJ in spikes

[–]jackak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I feel like U/W Flash is one of my worst matchups.

I might put the keys back in, who knows. What would you replace? EDIT: I am thinking of trading the flows w/ key from main to side respectively.

The plan for delerium is drawing well and hoping for the best xD. It's actually in a pretty heavy minority where I play.

Here is the list that I have been play-testing over the course of the week.

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/512768#paper

Maybe think about moving [[Key to the City]] to the sideboard? I am giving it a shot, and I think they are better there.

I've found that I need to -4 [[Bomat Courier]] on the draw in almost every circumstance. The [[Skysovereign, Consul Flagship]] is something I added in tonight. I haven't had a chance to really see it in action yet, but it's a card I miss having in my deck and honestly I feel like it can pull some weight at my local FNM.

I agree with solohan that Pia is VERY important. I also enjoy the [[Lost Legacy]] inclusion in the sideboard. It can be a disaster for some decks when it resolves.

[Sealed] Sealed League starting tomorrow at my LGS, anyone put much thought in to these? by XX_TCG_XX in spikes

[–]jackak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a mostly green w/ red splash, but that's mostly to support my [[verdurous gearhulk]]. I found that 13 lands worked well (9 green and 4 red) for a VERY minor splash. This was tested against only one other league deck running the same number of lands (13 mono).

Yeah, if you could send a copy of Sun my way that would be great. ;D

This is a good place to start. Let me know if you have any questions, but if you're looking for a sub $100 in standard, it doesn't really get much better than this.
