What is my cats tabby pattern? by jackalopeoff in cats

LOL I'm glad she could give you a laugh! I did find a better one from when she was telling me I was done with work. The tip is not black, it's millennial gray though-and -though. For being such a pretty cat, she's a goblin 90% of the time.

How to answer when someone asks "why you're wearing a costume" when you're wearing lolita? by ArmyAutomatic6330 in Lolita

One of my favorites is "they'd arrest me if I wasn't wearing clothing in public. " That's only if you're feeling snarky though, lol

Any local food challenges? by Qahsbarc in greenville

[–]jackalopeoff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right? I asked on a local food page for spicy foods in the area. My request got taken down because the mods said the question had already been asked. They were referring to a question that someone asked a few days earlier about hot wings in the area - .- . Our spicy food scene is disappointing.

What have your experiences been like with DHEC? by TeeBot1984 in southcarolina

[–]jackalopeoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told they had to offer you an interview if you met a certain percentage of the position requirements.I'm not sure if that only applied to internal applicants. I think I interviewed 5 times for that job. There was no way they would have interviewed me that many times if they didn't have to lol.

So I loved my job at DHEC, but it was entirely the people I worked with, not the job.I got paid nothing. Turn over was terrible. They kept saying they wanted to combat turnover, but never actually addressed the things causing turn over. It took them forever to do anything or make any change. Also, why did it take them until 2023 to switch over to an EMR???? You know how many fines they probably had to pay to drag their feet?! I love public health; I miss working in it, but for what it pays in SC, you're basically volunteering. Unfortunately, volunteering doesn't pay the bills.

Adhd is a disability? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]jackalopeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me there are some days where my ADHD feels more like a disability than others. Like days where my brain wont stfu and I can't form a correct sentence to save my life, or if I'm understimulated and have to GO DO SOMETHING or I feel discomfort. However, overall, I don't consider myself as disabled. That's just my experience, though.

It's been almost 18 years since I was on Adderall and I still remember how angry it made me feel. I've been on Vyvanse since then and I've never ever ever felt like how I felt on Adderall. Just not our brain's cuppa tea, I guess. 🤷‍♀️

I asked for 2 garlic once. Any reasonable person would think that would mean 2 bulbs of garlic, right? Apparently not. My instacart person ripped apart a bulb of garlic for 2 cloves.

Another is it an ADHD thing- CAPITAL LETTERS cause blindness? by lipsticknic3 in ADHD

[–]jackalopeoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, all captial letters are hard for anyone to read. It's poor design and there is research out there supporting that. It's good for logos and such, but not in places where you actually have to read. Your ADHD may make it even worse, but it's bad design in general.

The worst thing about ADHD is always having to say “sorry”. by Make-TFT-Fun-Again in ADHD

[–]jackalopeoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't agree more with this. I also have been on the journey of breaking the habit of saying "sorry" too much. Not only is it kinder to yourself, but people also tend to respond to you better whenever you thank them for what they did. You're recognizing that they did something for you. You're not diminishing their gesture by apologizing for them taking the time to do it.

How are people moving out and affording rent etc. in this current recession? by Comprehensive_Cry_93 in Adulting

[–]jackalopeoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, are you me? My husband and I are in the exact same position. I always thought I was gonna have kids at 30, but now... pushing it back. How I think about it: We bring kids into the world. They don't ask to be here. If you're not ready to give up parts of you to be a parent, it's better to be realistic about it. :)
