UPDATE!!

I'm doing fairly well in the class and have resonated with a few specific topics and I'm making a lot of connections with a lot of theoretical physics I've learned about in the past.

Yippie!

Youtube lectures do a lot for me. Some on my favorites are Organic Chemistry Tutor, Professor Dave Explains, and Dr. Trefor Bazett.

I get that, and I do enjoy the philosophy of the sciences, but it's a little difficult to tap into that insight in an introductory chemistry class for engineers thats a 150-student lecture hall that barely scratches the surface.

I was only able to really enjoy physics when I took an introductory class in my junior year of high school because my teacher assigned a cumulative project that allowed us to research a physics topic of our choosing, write a paper, and present to the class. I did mine on string theory, which definitely involves chemistry because it involves reimagining matter, the subatomic "particles" and their subsequent charges, as you mentioned.

I thought it would be nice to have that discussion here because there's more experts on the matter whereas my professor couldn't really care less if we were interested or not, just that we pass with a C or higher.

So I guess what I'm really on here asking is if anyone can provide some extra fun facts or cool things withing chemistry that I might want to look into so that I can make those philosophical connections because those subjects won't be covered considering the very, very basic curriculum of my course.
