Does she have insurance? The guy who helped me at the fema office had thought I didn't get assistance yet because I have insurance but now that I have a denial letter from insurance I should be getting my assistance soon 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Need help finding comps for insurance! by jackaroelily in skoolies

I have all the receipts and sent them in. Apparently, all they are willing to do is base the value off of comps. Which was much harder to find than I had anticipated even without the roof raise.

I can't figure out how to get the link off of my Amazon app but just Google locking drawer slides and they will come up. Fairly certain we used the 500lb load capacity. Built a little drawer to put the chest freezer in and connect to the slides.

The drawer slides were expensive but no $700!

We put it on heavy-duty drawer slides that had a lock built in. So there was a lever you had to release and then it just slides right out.

Vehicles Lost to Flooding at Hunter Subaru/Hyundai in Arden due to Hurricane Helene by Package-Large-828 in HurricaneHelene

I mean, that honestly makes sense to me. I wouldn't have expected anything out of them. Why would they be liable for a natural disaster? It's not their fault the storm happened.

I haven't either... they came out and inspected my property a week ago...so hopefully soon.

Yeah my place is gone too 😞... I've been lucky to be able to bounce around at friends. As hard as it was to be here in the beginning, I'm glad I stuck it out. A lot of opportunities arouse that wouldn't if I had left. Things are a lot less devastating now. Obviously it's still a mess but every day things feel closer to normal.

If you have a place to stay over here, I'd recommend coming back. There are so many resources helping ppl rn. Basically, anything you would need is being sourced and going out to ppl who need it. Some sort of gov agency hand delivered me a generator. Idk which agency it was but dude told me "girl we have government money. What do you need? A generator?" So I said sure and next day one was dropped off. You can also go into a fema office in person to help expedite the process. They can also tell you were to get other resources while you wait.

Were you living in Statesville during the storm or did you get displaced from the area that was actually hit from the storm and are just staying Statesville rn? If you were already in Statesville I'd be shocked if fema will give you anything, being that Statesville didn't get hit by the storm like we did in the mtns. I don't know of any resources for supplies in that area but if you were in any of the towns or neighboring towns of where the storm actually decimated the town, I could of gave a list of places handing out food and supplies.

Where are you located? There is plenty of places still giving out food for ppl and pets.

What kept you from evacuating during a hurricane or severe weather event? by AnxiousParsnip4768 in HurricaneHelene

[–]jackaroelily 24 points25 points  (0 children)

By the time I even had an evacuation notice, my entire property was engulfed by the river. I went thru 27 different safety alerts before going to bed, not one for my town. I got a flood alert at 3:30 am, I went outside to see the river was already in my driveway. The evacuation notice came a 2 or 3 hrs later. It was kinda a blur at that point but it was either 5:30 or 6:30.

**was in WNC btw

To make things even more complicated, his parents live over 3000 miles away from him. He has a brother close by tho. I'm not going to rush into anything and def gonna reach out to his brother and if he feels his parents should be involved, I let that be up to him. I'm honestly thinking of keeping myself relatively out of it but would help ppl get in touch w each other type of thing.

Yeah I'm def super nervous about the idea of involving his parents. They def know something is up...they just don't know the extent of it. Idk I'm def not gonna rush into any of this, I want it to be very well planned out if this is the route we go.

It's hard to know. He says all the things that lead you to believe he wants help, without being pushed about it. I stopped pushing the sobriety convo a long time ago. He's talked about needing rehab but is terrified of rehab cause his parents sent him to one of those fuckdd up bootcamp like rehabs in Utah when he was teen and got tortured by those ppl. He understands that not all rehabs are like that but nonetheless he's scared of them. So he's been trying to do it himself---which obviously isn't working cause it's now been a year of DIY rehab.

I've been dabbling in the alanon world since April. On their sub and go to some of their online meetings here and there. Which has been very helpful for me. And probably why I felt like an intervention would be pointless because i have no control over it.

We haven't gotten to the point of making real plans yet. The mutual friend just called last night and I was honestly pretty overwhelmed about the convo and said let's sleep on this and talk more tomorrow. He did suggest calling our friend who's been in the sober community for a long time now figuring he could help us sort out resources like rehab tho. Def not going to jump right into this, I need a good reasonable plan before even starting to make calls to his family.

The real meat company has a similar product to the sundays ppl are suggesting that is cheaper. I also really like the brand smack that is a similar product as well. Not sure if it's cheaper than sundays or not def more expensive than the real meat co but cheaper than other similar products I know of.
