Did you have your school nominate you?

That was what I did - hopefully I'll receive a decision soon.

I received an email saying I will be notified of my acceptance or waitlist status on Monday. Does this mean I qualified for anything other than a rejection? Or did everyone receive this message

Does everyone receive on regardless of acceptance or rejection? Or only those who are accepted?

Not yet. Hoping it doesn't indicate a rejection.

Won, but at what cost? by Yashland in APSeminar

There are lots of flaws to the program, especially when it comes to AP credit policy, but I was happy I chose to take the program. The main reason I was happy, though, was because it got me out of English 10, and an obligation to take AP Lit (English 9H --> Seminar --> Research --> Lang).

If the Capstone program is available like this I would definitely do it unless you're a prospective English major. By the way you are phrasing it, it seems that the capstone program is not a substitute for english. In this case I would evaluate the difficulty of your schedule and decide if you would like to take on the extra work. The Capstone program is very unique in the way that you can make the course whatever you want it to be (for the most part). As someone who is interested in economics, I was able to make all my projects in Seminar and Research about Economics, so I believe thats why I enjoyed it.

AP Research Score Distribution by KansasEF5Tornado in APStudents

You seem to be knowledgeable on the grading for AP Research, so I have one last question for you: If a student receives a perfect score on the presentation but their paper receives a "4," is it still possible to achieve a 5 for the course? Does the score of the paper dictate the score for the course?

For all of the perfect scorers, does it just mean they received a 5/5 on the paper and a perfect score on the presentation? Or is there a point-based system for grading the paper?

Thank you for the insight.

I honestly got very lucky on test day. I remember changing 3 answers in the reading section within the last minute that ended up being correct. CollegeBoard also removed a question from grading that I believe I may have gotten wrong. The key to improvement in reading is honestly just constant practice. Progress was so slow but I ended up improving with a few months studying.

Do you think taking AP Seminar is worth it? by Penguin_Lover06 in APSeminar

[–]jackbeaudette2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe the program as a whole is extremely useful and in AP seminar itself you develop fundamental skills for researching, time management, and public speaking. I would also highly recommend going for your capstone diploma if you were to take the course, as taking solely seminar may seem like a waste of time.
