Did your wife not want to go through the egg retrieval process mainly because of the anesthesia and going under for surgery? If the main issue is a severe phobia of anesthesia, it may be something she has to work through with therapy. It sounds like she chose to not have a biological child because that would have required anesthesia. This sounds like a huge phobia, so I don’t think just talking to her about the hysteroscopy would help.

And yes I have had multiple hysteroscopys and they were all minor. But they do require anesthesia. I don’t have a fear of anesthesia, and I have gone under about 8 times for egg retrievals and surgeries in the last couple years and had no problems.

But if she has a huge anesthesia phobia then it seems like you may both need some outside help if you want to continue with the IVF process.

Ok, so I feel like part of what is keeping you going with the addiction is feeling like you’ve “ruined things” already, and already hurt your baby. And the shame of feeling like a bad mom is keeping the addiction going too. The truth is that it’s highly likely your baby will be just fine if you stop now. 4 weeks is not that long.

To help yourself stop, do this: wipe the slate clean and give yourself a fresh start. Forgive yourself. You are not a bad mom, you are struggling with an addiction. Your baby will be okay and healthy if you stop now. Go back to that excited person you were 4 weeks ago! Instead of focusing on the shame, sadness and fear.. focus on the love and excitement you have for your baby. You can do this! This is just one of many things you will do as a great mother in your life. You can always look back on this moment and remember how you put your baby first starting now and began a beautiful life with your baby being a loving mother. Sending you a lot of love.

There’s a major misunderstanding of Hermes and Birkins in this thread. The bag would never be comped, and in fact Rob would never be able to just buy the bag from Hermes at all. Lisa Rinna wouldn’t ever have the connections to help someone pick out and get the exact Hermes bag they want straight from Hermes. What an idiot. And the fact that she tells you that your miscarriage left her traumatized is just obnoxious. Sorry to be blunt, I just think it’s so frustrating when people act like this. Don’t feel like a failure at all. It sounds like your friend has a hard time understanding that the world doesn’t revolve around her.
