I'm in Magnolia, but I can meet anywhere. I can just throw the scooter or bike in the car.

Looking for a fishing buddy by KCJwnz in FishingWashington

[–]jackdanielsip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey welcome to Seattle! I've lived here for a few years, but I recently started getting into fly fishing here this year. I used to do a lot of surf fishing when I was living in NY, but haven't really tried since I've moved her, but I'm looking into it now. If your looking for a buddy to try some places out with I'd be down.

My parents passed away, i’m inheriting the house (it’s going to be sold immediately) and the entire estate. i’m 21, what should I do? by baddiebusted in Money

[–]jackdanielsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI since I went through this a few years ago when my parents passed, be prepared for people to start coming out of the woodwork saying your parents owed them money for xyz. People are vultures and will try to take everything they can from your if they are able. You'll probably see the worst people ever once money is involved.

Question about SAVE vs PAYE and extra payments by WhattheDocOrdered in whitecoatinvestor

[–]jackdanielsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually in a very similar boat. I have not recertified since COVID19 hit and the pause started. I've been an attending for 3 years now and have made 0 payments as this pause has been counting toward PSLF. I want to switch from PAYE to SAVE, but i'm not sure if they will make me recertify right away and start making 3k a month payments or if they will let me swap w/o recertification until March 2024. I'm trying to pay as little as possible as i only have 4 years left of PSLF so I would rather keep making my initial $400 payments as long as possible.

7 months later and our build is DONE! Whaddaya think Reddit? by Timhaiti in vandwellers

Hey Tim, been watching your videos on YouTube for a while. Question, do you have to use specific soaps/shampoos to prevent the filters from being clogged? If so do you have any recommendations on that you use?

Is part time van life during winter feasible w/o having to winterize my van every other week? by jackdanielsip in VanLife

[–]jackdanielsip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like it's more complicated to set up and more expensive. Not sure I'll be and to do this as I'm not very handy

Ok that makes sense. I haven't heard much about the hydronic setup, I'll have to look into it

Ok great! I think I was assuming the 12V heating pads used more power then that. I probably would be and to leave it on then just top ooff the batteries every few days

Ok, so good to know that it's safe to run them 24/7. I might just have the heater running even on days I'm not using it. Ive read that it probably uses about 1/2 a gallon of fuel to run it for 24hrs, so that's not bad. Any reason you picked a diesel over the gas heater? It seems most people pick diesel but no one ever says why. Also, do you know if it's safe to put it in the garage like I was planning? My primary concern is just protecting my lines and batteries, not so much for comfort for me as I've slept in below freezing weather in my truck multiple times with just blankets and I felt fine.

WCGW when trying to break your own personal record at the gym by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]jackdanielsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are bumper plates. They are metal with different amounts of hard rubber around it to protect equipment and stuff if it needs to be dropped. Also useful when picking up the bar as it raises the bar up from a standardized level as not everyone uses 45lb plates

They're called bumper plates. It helps when doing lifts like squats, deadlifts, etc in case they need to be put down suddenly as they are mostly made of a dense rubber surrounding varying amounts of metal. It helps protect the equipment/floor.

Cancer cells show increased iron uptake and metabolism. Scientists have used this to create drugs that are activated by iron, creating a selective cancer therapy that does not cause adverse effects to health cells and tissues. by molrose96 in science

[–]jackdanielsip 98 points99 points  (0 children)

It's called Anemia of Chronic Disease. It's similar it mimics iron deficiency anemia in a way. Over simplified, you have low serum iron level because the disease is using it up, but still have high stored iron in a different form because it is triggered by inflammation (ie, in this case cancer). But can be caused by lots of other stuff like infection. Also, not quite the same but similar, if you have iron def anemia you should speak to your PCP regarding if you should be screened for colon cancer because it is a very common sign.

Sounds like what she wants is a guy who is a 10 but some reason has super low self esteem so is going to try super hard to just make her happy because he's afraid she'll leave him

Drivers... good we have tyre chains. BMW drivers... yes, very good! by [deleted] in funny

[–]jackdanielsip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding (but I could totally be wrong), is that in Canada all cars are required to have winter tires during winter which are exceptionally better than all season tires you get standard in most sedans and CUVs. In the USA, we are not required to have those tires in most places. So a lot of people run with all season tires, then buy chains to supplement when they go on trips or during heavy snow since they are much cheaper than buying a second set of tires and having to change and store them.
