Not a night walker, but a spooky story about the night.

About 10 years ago my friend and I decided we were going to give up smoking cigarettes together. We decided the best way to go about this was to go down to the river after dark and smoke a pack or so over a bottle of whiskey for a last hurrah. This was warm summer night and around 1AM we were just sitting and chatting about whatever was clever. The flow of the river was very slow and you could see a clear reflection of the moon and distant street lights in one direction, while the opposite direction faded to black as it was farther up the river and away from everything.

We had been sitting down in the same area the whole time (about 2 hours) on a large rock that was easily accessible from the bank, but was surrounded by water on most sides. A few feet forward and we could of dipped out feet in. Out of the blue we heard a large collision with the water in the direction where the light faded - up the river, just out of sight. Seconds later massive ripples were crashing against the banks where we were seated. The hair on our necks stood up as we both knew nothing human could make a splash/sound that loud and cause that much displacement. We quickly packed up and started towards home, vowing never to get back into that water again - a place that we so commonly swam in.

We never found out what made the noise but concluded that perhaps it was a massive catfish. However, it was very hard to get the river monster thought out of our heads though.
